The number on the board spent a little while going up and down and then up again but it now seems to have settled at 1,943. That is a big ol' field for this, the last shot at a bracelet before the Main Event.
We'll let you know if that number gets tweaked any further.
A player in middle position had raised to 350 with Dwyte Pilgrim re-raiseing to 1,000. The original raiser then went all in for 4,200 total and Pilgrim made the call.
Pilgrim:
Opponent:
Pilgrim could hardly have asked for a better flop when it came . The turn was the and the river was the . Pilgrim now has 9,125 chips.
We walked by a table and happened to see two players getting it all in prefop. We almost kept going when we saw that one player had and the other player had . However, when the flop came we decided to see if we might catch a cooler. The came on the river, and the cooler was completed with the on the river. Hands like that are never easy to lose.
It looked as though the gentleman in the small blind had checked the flop and Marco Traniello had bet 1,000. His opponent called, and they saw a turn.
Bith players checked the turn and they saw another on the river. This time the small blind bet out 2,800 and Traniello tanked up for an amazingly long time before calling with . His opponent could only boast and Traniello upped his stack to 9,000.
The board was complete when we arrived at the scene, reading . Jason Young had bet 2,075 into the pot, which already had 2,000 in it. Chris Moneymaker made the call and Young said, "Nice call."
Moneymaker replied, saying, "I was behind on the turn," but before he could show his cards, Young mucked.
Moneymaker showed for good measure and Young said, "Nice hand, sir."
Moneymaker said, "Thank you, I play well," before adding "That's the thing about poker, sometimes I look good, sometimes I look like a complete buffoon". Moneymaker now has 10,150 chips.
Allan Baekke, who came amazingly close to winning back-to-back EPTs last season, will not be picking up a WSOP bracelet to go with his trophies - he has been eliminated from the running in this last-chance event and will have to rely on a good run in the Main Event if he wants some shiny gold wristwear this year.
