Gray Doubles Through Kelly

Craig Gray had made it 550 to go from the button when Charles Kelly raised to 2,000. Gray three-bet 8,500 more, putting himself all in with Kelly making the call.

Kelly: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Gray: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Kelly was in a bad way and needed a lot of help if he were to best Gray's aces. He was unable to do so with the board running out {5-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

The hand saw Gray double to about 22,000, while Kelly is down to 6,400.

Straight Rolled Out On Peters

"Oh ok! Really? Fives? Well played [sigh]"
"Oh ok! Really? Fives? Well played [sigh]"

Facing a limp, Donnie Peters bumped it to 700 with only the limper making the call as the {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop fell.

Peters' 875-chip bet was check-called by his opponent as the turn landed the {J-Spades}. Faced with a check once again, Peters continued his aggression by making it 1,750 to go as his opponent called.

The dealer dropped the {3-Diamonds} on the river and both players checked to see Peters' opponent table his {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a rivered wheel as Peters mucked and slipped to 4,275 in chips.

Just What We Need...

The Rio is a busy place today. With a number of tournaments on the go, including the $10K PLO, $25K six-max and this doozy right here, there are players all over the place.

A short-stacked Erick Lindgren jokingly suggested to tournament officials that "you need another tournament going." Perhaps, sensing his fate, he suggested "an 11:00 PM turbo for a bracelet."

Maybe next year.

Shepherd Chases Wolfe Away

Andrew Shepherd had raised in middle position when Dustin Wolfe shoved in the small blind for about 3,500. Shepherd made the call and it was time to see some cards.

Shepherd: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Wolfe: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop was no help to Wolfe, coming {4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. The {5-Spades} on the turn left Wolfe drawing to an ace, which he didn't find when the river came {j-Clubs}.

While Wolfe is eliminated, Shepherd is up to 9,300.

Coming Up Roses

Sasha Rosewood is up to 16,000. We didn't quite catch the action, but just before the cards were mucked we thought we caught some smallish suited connectors in Rosewood's possession and a pair of aces in his newly busted opponent's hand. We also thought we caught just the vaguest hint of a smirk...
