Mercier's Flop Raise Takes It

Jason Mercier raised from middle position and Nick Schulman three-bet from the small blind. Mercier called and off to a flop they went.

The {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} came down and Schulman continued with a bet. Mercier put in a raise and that was good enough to win him the pot right there.

Kostritsyn and Alioto Scooped

We picked up the action on a {Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} flop. Alex Kostritsyn checked it to Dario Alioto who bet, but Andrew Barber made it two bets. Both Kostritsyn and Alioto called to see the {7-Spades} turn. They both check-called Barber's bet again and did the same on the {10-Spades} river.

Barber showed {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for nut-nut, scooping the entire pot.

Barlow Scoops Dwan

Tom "durrrr" Dwan raised preflop and was re-raised by Todd Barlow. Dwan called. The flop came down {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and Dwan check-called a bet from Barlow.

The {2-Spades} turned, and Dwan check-raised Barlow this time. Barlow called. The {q-Spades} on the river paired the board, and Dwan led out for the first time. Barlow called.

Dwan: {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Barlow: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Dwan had trip deuces, but Barlow's ace-high flush was best, and he scooped the pot.

Alaei Quartered

David Steicke raised on the button, and found one caller in Daniel Alaei from the big blind. The flop came down {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and Alaei check-called a bet from Steicke. The two checked on the turn ({9-Hearts}) and the river ({j-Clubs}).

Steicke opened {a-}{k-}{5-}{6-} for a pair of aces and an eighty-six low, and Alaei showed {a-}{k-}{q-}{6-} for the same pair of aces, but no low.

Huck Seed's Plight

Level 12 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante

We just watched a short-stacked Huck Seed split a pot with Tom Dwan on a {9-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} board. Seed was all in by the time the turn card rolled around, and his {A-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} ended up being good enough to take the high half. Dwan's {4-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} took the low.

On the next hand, Seed raised under the gun, and Chris George flatted to see a heads-up flop. It came {3-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}, and Seed bet. George called there, and he called another bet after the {5-Spades} turn. The river came the {2-Hearts}, and Seed didn't like it at all. He checked, and George put out the pink chip for the bet. Seed grimaced, shook his head, and folded with 2,200 chips left.

On the next hand, those 2,200 chips were committed to the big blind, and Seed was facing five-way action. The board ran out {5-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}, and Tom Dwan tabled {A-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} to take the low half. Seed's {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} had backed into a flush, and that's going to keep him around for now. He's back up to 5,500, and there's still a lot of work to be done.

Barber Clips Deeb

Andrew Barber has remained active throughout the day, and is among our chip leaders because of it.

In one hand he was heads-up with Freddy Deeb in a three-bet pot. Deeb wanted to put a fourth bet in preflop, but the floor ruled that it was a call. The dealer fanned {9-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and Barber check-called a bet from Deeb.

Both players checked the {5-Hearts} on the turn, and the river brought the {6-Clubs}. Barber check-called another bet, and tabled {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a straight and an eighty-seven low. Deeb mucked, and Barber scooped the pot.
