Day 1 of $1,500 H.O.R.S.E Event Under Way

The first mixed game event of the 2011 World Series of Poker has arrived, and with a relatively affordable buy in of $1,500, this H.O.R.S.E. tournament is expected to attract more than 700 hopefuls, all seeking to capture the gold bracelet and the glory that comes with it.

Players will be competing in five poker disciplines, Limit Hold’em, Omaha Eight or Better, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Eight or better, and will have to exhibit an ability to play all five games at a high level if they hope to advance to Day 2 and beyond.

Our defending champion in this event is Konstantin Puchkov of Russia, who is in the house this morning to try and retain the title he earned last summer. The Day 1 field will be a healthy mix of ambitious amateurs looking to make a splash and tournament veterans out to prove that the mixed game events are the realm of the professional player.

PokerNews will be covering all of the action, from “Shuffle Up and Deal!” to the final hand that crowns our champion, so check in often with our live reporting page to follow all of the bring-ins, nut lows, and scooped pots.
