Appleman Pours One Out

Level 10

We just heard about an odd occurrence with Mickey Appleman. Apparently, Appleman lost a pot in Stud, turned around in his chair, and poured a bottle of water out on the floor. It splashed on the legs of Brent Hanks next door, and Hanks was none too thrilled. One of our staff heard his reaction:

"Um, I know you don't like the water," Hanks said. "But next time you do that, could you not splash it on me?"

There is a confirmed wet spot on the floor near Table 354.

Buchman Doubles Opponent

No Limit Hold'em

Eric Buchman had an opponent all in with board reading {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Buchman's opponent was ahead with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, but Buchman was drawing to a flush with {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. The turn ({5-Hearts}) and river ({q-Clubs}) both bricked though, and Buchman's opponent shipped the double.

Clubs Always Get There

Level 10

Pot-Limit Omaha

Earlier in the day, we heard John Juanda lamenting the relationship between his middling chip stack and the registration period for today's 5:00 P.M. event. "That's a lot of time to go broke," he said, looking at his watch. Juanda just had his chance to duck out with dignity.

He opened the last pot to 1,200, and Katie Baxter three-bet to 3,200. Juanda shoved in for just less than 11,000 total, and Baxter made the call for most of her own chips, too.

Juanda: {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}
Baxter: {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {J-Spades} {3-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, and everyone stared at the board for a moment. "Chop," Baxter finally surmised, and that wasn't the result either of them were looking for.

"That's boring," Juanda said. "I don't want to chop." He's still got those 11,000 chips, and Baxter her 13,000 or so.

"How do I not have clubs?" Baxter wondered aloud.

Young Gutted

Pot Limit Omaha

Justin Young was all in and at risk against John Monnette with the board reading {3-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Young's {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} was ahead of Monnette's {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, but the {5-Spades} spiked on the turn to give Monnette an unbeatable straight.

Young was already gone by the time the {3-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Monnette dragged the pot in.

Zaichenko Shoves, Deeb Snaps

Level 10

No-Limit Hold'em

When we walked up to the table, there were four cards on board showing {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}. There was 5,300 chips out in front of Shaun Deeb. It was either a bet or a raise (we're not sure), but either way, Andrey Zaichenko called to see the last card. It was the {6-Hearts}, and Zaichenko shoved in for about 16,000. Deeb snap-called with {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, and his flush was good.

That's the end of Zaichenko's day, and Deeb moves up to about 64,000.

Hellmuth Gets There

No-Limit Hold'em

We caught up with the action on a {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board and saw Phil Hellmuth check. Bryan Devonshire bet enough to cover the rest of Hellmuth's stack and Hellmuth beat him into the pot with an all-in call for 4,600.

Devonshire: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Hellmuth: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The {9-Diamonds} turn changed nothing, but Hellmuth made his flush when the {7-Hearts} hit the river.

Forza Traniello

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

When we reached the table, Brian Hastings, Rajesh Vohra and Marco Traniello were three-handed heading into the second draw. Hastings drew two, Traniello drew one, and Vohra stood pat.

Hastings checked dark, Traniello knuckled as well, and Vohra bet. Hastings called, Traniello raised, Vohra folded and Hastings called again.

Hastings drew one, Traniello stood pat, and both players checked. Traniello tabled {9-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} for a ninety-seven low, Hastings mucked, and Traniello shipped the pot.
