Big Hand for Timex

As we wandered past table 369, we saw Matthew Ezrol raise to 2,500 from the cutoff pre-flop before Michael "Timex" McDonald repotted it from the big blind. Ezrol called, but was quick to fold after McDonald fired out 9,600 on the flop of {3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

McDonald chuckled as he raked in the pot, but we bet that he would have loved to have seen more action with his {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}!

Van der Fluit Left Shaking His Head

Action folded to Vincent van der Fluit on the button and he put in a raise to 2,600. The small blind got out of the way while David Benefield three-bet to 8,000 from the big. Van der Fluit made the call and watched as the flop came down {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Benefield didn't take long before firing out 6,500, which van der Fluit quickly made 13,500. Benefield thought for a few seconds before tossing in a call.

When the {K-Spades} appeared on the turn, Benefield checked and van der Fluit asked for a count. Benefield had 43,500 back, so van der Fluit bet 40,000. Benefield committed his entire stack, van der Fluit made the call, and the cards were turned up.

van der Fluit: {6-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Benefield: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Benefield was behind van der Fluit's trip sixes, but he did have outs to any spade or ace. With 120K in the pot, the dealer burned and slowly put out the {K-Spades}. Benefield was elated to take down the pot while van der Fluitcould only shake his head in disbelief.

Mercier Takes One

The action folded around to Jason Mercier who called from the small blind; Brandon Paster checked his big blind before Mercier check-called Paster's bet of 1,600 on the flop of {K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

Both players then checked the turn of the {10-Spades} before Mercier fired out 3,800. Paster clearly wasn't interested, flashing the {A-Diamonds} before sending his hand into the muck.

Seth Gets Clocked By Brooks

We were walking towards the table that has Andy Seth and Gregory Brooks and noticed Seth pacing around by his seat. We went over to check it out, and this is what we saw. The board read {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}, and there was about 30,000 in the pot. There was a bet of 16,000 out in front of Seth, yet he was the one counting out his chips and looking pained by a decision while Brooks sat silently like a stone wall. Its safe to assume that Brooks had announced a pot sized raise, and Seth was tormented by his decision. After at least five minutes of standing and staring at Brooks, the clock was called on Seth. It dwindled down, and as the floor counted down from 10, Seth never moved, not even when the clock ran out. His hand was dead, and the pot was shipped over to Brooks, who rubbed some salt in the wound by showing {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} for a two pair that Seth said he could beat.

Chiu Busts Haavisto

A series of raises saw Ville Haavisto get his stack all in preflop from the small blind against David Chiu in the big blind. When the cards were turned up, Haavisto discovered he was in trouble and in need of some help.

Chiu: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Haavisto: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{{J-Hearts} flop was no help to Haavisto, and neither was the {2-Clubs} turn nor {6-Diamonds} river. Chiu's aces held while Haavisto was sent to the rail.

Senti Takes a Little Off Selbst

Action folded to Jason Senti in the small blind and he opted to limp. Chip-leader Vanessa Selbst checked her option in the big and it was heads up to the {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop. Senti led out for 1,800, which Selbst quickly raised to 7,800. Senti made the call and both players proceeded to check the {8-Diamonds} turn and {A-Spades} river.

"Straight," said Senti as he flipped over {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades}. It was good as Selbst released her hand.

Hachem Slips

With the field now down to 88 players, the action at the tables is starting to become more subdued, but we did manage to pick up a hand between 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem and Gregory Bastin.

We picked up the action from the flop of {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}; Hachem checked to Bastin who led out for 2,200. Hachem deliberated, then smooth-called before the dealer produced the {Q-Clubs} on the turn.

Hachem checked, Bastin bet 4,700 and again, Hachem went into the tank. After about three minutes, Hachem laid his hand down.
