Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout
Day 1 Started
Day 1 of Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout is set to begin in a little over half an hour. The size of the field, and who will enter, is unclear given that the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship event is starting at 5:00 PM in the Pavilion Room and will surely attract the biggest names in the game, but according to Twitter we will at least be seeing the likes of Scott Montgomery, Jonathan Little, and the one and only Jean-Robert Bellande who came second in this event in 2008. Plus, since the PLO Championship isn't starting until 5:00, we may see a number of pros try to jump into this, win their table (or bust out) quick and then go late register that.
Last year, this event attracted 548 players and was won by Brendan Taylor, who took home $184,950 for his first-place finish. We should know early on how many players enter this year's event, and the subsequent prizepool that is created, since there is no late registration for this tournament.
Like we said above, our guess is as good as yours as to how the field will fill out, but the shootout format always guarantees excitement as the players have to win their table or hit the rail. Join us here at 12:00 PM PST as PokerNews brings you all the hand updates, chip counts and action from the $1,500 Limit Shootout!

On a flop we found Scott Montgomery betting the minimum 50 into to other players. He received two calls and all players got to see the on the turn. Here Montgomery bet out 100 chips, this time one of his opponents threw out the white flag and folded, but the other called.
A river lead to Montgomery betting 100 again. He received a call from his only opponent. Montgomery flipped over for a set of queens and his opponent mucked. Montgomery is now hovering around 5,000 in chips.

You might think that a limit hold'em shootout would be rather calm during the first few levels, but we've already seen a three round penalty get dished out here in the Pavilion room.
Although we missed the hand, apparently Michael Winnett held pocket aces and his opponent held pocket kings. The board ended up being king-high giving the other player a set and Winnett was so upset that he chucked his aces hard enough to send one of them flying into the crowd of spectators nearby.
Winnett is now cooling his heels while the rest of his table, marches on without him.

We have been thoroughly impressed with our field so far here at the $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout. As we mentioned in the opener, lot's of these notables will also be playing this afternoon's $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship, but that hasn't stopped them from coming out and giving this noon event a shot.
As is to be expected in such a deep field, we have already seen some pretty sick table draws here including Black #27 which features this year's $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Six-Handed champion Jason Mercier, this year's $1,500 Seven Card Stud champion Eugene Katchalov, and Tim Finn. A table to watch for sure.
We have heaps of Team PokerStars Pros in the field today. Here is who we have seen so far.
