A Jill of all Trades

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

In today's field is Fatima Moreira De Melo, a Dutch field hockey player from Rotterdam who is a member of Team PokerStars Sportstars. To say that her interests are eclectic would be a understatement.

In addition to being a three-time Olympic medalist in field hockey (Bronze in Sydney-2000, Silver in Athens-2004, and Gold in Beijing-2008), she has a Masters degree in Law, has a side career as a singer, makes regular appearance on Dutch TV shows, and plays poker on the side.

To date, De Melo's best WSOP cash was an 18th-place finish in the 2010 $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. She will obviously be looking to best that result in this tournament.

De Melo is doing well so far and currently has 14,000 in chips.

Ramdin Folds on the River

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We caught action between Victor Ramdin and one other player in a hand after a crowd started gathering at the table.

The board had run out {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades}. There was already around 6,000 in the pot and Ramdin's opponent had moved all in on the river for 6,600. Ramdin called the clock on himself after tanking for a while. The tournament director came over and set the clock down in front of Ramdin for 60 seconds.

On the very last second, Ramdin folded his cards into the muck. He sits with around 7,000 in chips.

Magriel's "M"

Level 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

Paul Magriel has arrived, part of the wave of late registrants. Readers of Harrington on Hold'em know that the backgammon expert and long time poker player known as "X-22" was given an homage of sorts in the naming of Dan Harrington's famous "M" figure, the first letter of which refers to Magriel.

He sits with roughly the starting stack of 3,000, which makes an "M" a little over 13 as we near the end of Level 4.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan (Event # 27) Is Here on Day 1 Looking For Another Deep Run

Tom "durrrr" Dwan, fresh off of his 5th place finish in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, has been spotted at a nearby table after arriving fashionably late. We will be sure to keep track of progress as Day 1 continues.

2,890 Entrants

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

"Wow, we just lost 500 players in five minutes?!"

So said someone at a table after noticing the updated totals on the big board. There we see the final total of entrants -- 2,890 -- as well as the number of those remaining, a number that is currently being adjusted to reflect the actual number remaining.

Information on prize pool and payouts to come.

Dorfman Eliminated

We caught action on a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} between Randy Dorfman and Dominic Fosco. Fosco bet 650 from middle position and Dorfman raised to 1,325 from the button. Fosco reraised to 4,650 and Dorfman pushed all in for his remaining 5,300 chips.

Dorfman turned over {a-Spades}{9-Spades} and Fosco turned over {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and the river brought the {7-Hearts} to send Dorfman to the rail.

Fosco now sits with around 18,000 in chips.
