We're Back

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

We are on the bubble and we have four more levels to play on the night. Shuffle up and deal!

Bubble Update

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

It hasn't burst yet, and action is slowwwwwww. No big pots, no action.

However, Thomas Hamlett has only 200 chips left after folding his small and big blinds. We can only think he is hoping that someone will bust and he can score a min-cash before tossing in his 200 and going out as the first player in the money. More updates to come when anything of note happens

Bursted Bubble

Thomas Hamlett has been super low stacked for quite some time, with only 200 chips left he moved them all in under the gun. The player in the small blind made the call, and Greg Raymer checked in the big blind. Hamlet drew one, the small blind took two, and Raymer took four.

Both other non all in players checked. All players then took one card. It was here that Raymer bet and the small blind folded. Both Raymer and Hamlett then stood pat and flipped their cards. Both players showed {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} and they chopped up the pot.

The very next hand Hamlett was the big blind and forced to be all in. Galen Hall raised and managed to get heads up with the all in Hamlett where both players took two cards to start it out. On the second draw they both took two again. The third draw allowed them both to take one card.

Hall Flipped first and showed {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-} he then squeezed out an {8-} for a straight. Hamlett then showed {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} for an eight low and a double up.

Hamlett was now the small blind and all in still with less than 1,000 in chips. Raymer raised and found a caller in Jason Mercier. Hamlett took two cards as did Mercier, and Raymer opted to take just one. Mercier then check-called a bet from Raymer. Again Hamlett took two cards as did Mercier, Raymer again only took one.

This time Mercier check-folded when Raymer put out a bet. Raymer showed {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, and Hamlett announced he couldn't beat that. After a great effort of trying to stay alive Hamlett was eliminated. All players at the table shook hands and all players now set gears on making the final table.

Post-Bubble Action

I don't care whether you're an amateur playing in one of your first tournaments or one of the most famous pros around, being a short stack on the money bubble is always a sweat, and that hour long bubble proved it.

Both Joe Tehan and Jeff Lisandro were short the entire bubble, and right after it burst, both of them hit the rail.

In other news, the bigger stacks are back at it and people are playing for the win again.

In this hand, David Sklansky raised it up pre-draw and Greg Raymer re-raised from the big blind. Sklansky called, Raymer drew one and Sklansky drew two.

Sklansky check-called a bet from Raymer and drew one on the second round while Raymer stood pat. Sklansky checked to Raymer who bet, Sklansky check-raised and Raymer called. Both players stood pat on the third round of betting and Sklansky bet out with Raymer making the call.

Sklansky showed {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and took down the pot. He is up to 75,000 while Raymer has fallen to 58,000.

All Hail Hale

Brant Hale placed a bet and was summarily raised by David Bach. Hale made the call and opted to take one card, while Bach took two. Hale then bet and was raised again by Bach. Hale made the call again, and took one card. Bach however stood pat.

This time Hale only check-called a bet from Bach. Both players then stood pat. Hale however came out firing after the draw and bet, and Bach simply called.

Hale showed {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and Bach mucked his cards.

Matusow Hanging Around

Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Well, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow wasn't our bubble boy and won't be shaving his head, but he was short for a while and has continued to hang around.

Christopher Vitch raised it up and Matusow called from the small blind. Matusow drew one and Vitch drew two. Matusow led out with a bet and Vitch made the call.

Matusow stood pat at this point and Vitch drew two. Again, Matusow bet and Vitch called. Matusow continued to stand pat and Vitch drew one on the third draw. The two players checked the last round and Matusow showed {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-} for the win.

He is still quite short with about 38,000, but he's still in it with 28 players left.

Elezra Eliminates Mike Matusow

We managed to get to Mike Matusow's table just as he was moving all in on the second draw. Eli Elezra made the call. Matusow took one card, while Elezra stood pat.

Matusow didn't like what he saw and decided to draw one more again. Elezra stood pat and said "sorry Mike you're drawing dead", Matusow however was not drawing dead. Granted Elezra had a great hand in {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, but Matusow still had outs as he held {7-}{5-}{4-}{2-}. Matusow needed a three and he would double off Elezra. Unfortunately for Matusow he squeezed out a {8-} and was eliminated.
