Sands Down To Scraps, In Danger Of 10th Place Finish

David Sands came in to today with a super-massive chip lead, and now he is the shortest stack at a table full of short stacks. Sands lost a massive pot to Jeff Gibralter and then just got scooped by Marco Oliveira in the following hand to fall into the danger zone.

Michael Yee called the big blind in middle position, Robert Campbell did the same, Sands on the button raised the pot for 88,000, Marco Oliveira went all in for 283,000 in the small blind and everyone folded besides Sands who called.

Sands: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Oliveira: {A-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Sands had the superior high hand and just had to fade low cards to scoop the pot and get it back. However, the board was not so kind and it ran out {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts} to give Oliveira a low and two pair for the scoop. It's been a long day so far for Sands and we haven't event reached the second level of the day. It will take a miracle to get back to where he was before, but stranger things have happened and with a few double ups he could be right back in it.

When a Tie Feels Like a Loss

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

In the next-to-last hand of Level 21, Igor Sharaskin opened with a raise to 38,000 from middle position, then Thomas Scarber reraised the pot -- 138,000 -- behind him. It folded back around, and Sharaskin called.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Sharaskin announced he was betting the pot, and Scarber quickly called with his remaining chips.

Sharaskin showed {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Scarber {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. The turn brought the case ace -- the {A-Clubs} -- giving Scarber a set. The river was the {4-Hearts}, and Scarber initially clapped his hands. "Oh damn," he said immediately after. "Makes him the low."

Indeed, that river gave Sharaskin the low half of the pot and they chopped. Scarber has about 235,000 still, and Sharaskin is pushing up toward 700,000.

David Sands Eliminated In 10th Place ($15,836)

David Sands
David Sands

David Sands came into our final table as the massive chip leader, and now the unexpected has happened and Sands has been eliminated in 10th.

Sands lost two massive pots that crippled him to under 100,000. On his bustout hand, Igor Sharaskin bet 55,000 from under-the-gun, Sands put his last 32,000 in the pot from early position, Marco Oliveira called and Jeff Gibralter called to see a flop.

The flop came down [6ckjc] and all three players checked. The turn came {a-Clubs} and all three players checked again. The river was the {7-Clubs} and Igor bet out 100,000 with both other players calling.

Sharaskin showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and that was good to scoop it and send Sands home short of the official final table. It was a tough day for Sands, but this game often leaves you up to the mercy of the cards and they were not with him today. Now at nine people, we are at our official final table and back to standard nine-handed play.

Singontiko Scoops Sharaskin

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
David Singontiko
David Singontiko

Igor Sharaskin limped in from UTG+1 and it folded back around to David Singontiko who called from the small blind. Robert Campbell checked his option from the big blind, and the flop came out {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

It checked to Sharaskin who bet 30,000. Singontiko reraised the pot, Campbell folded, Sharaskin reraised pot again, and Singontiko called with his last chips.

Singontiko had {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for a low draw and nut flush draw, while and Sharaskin had {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs} for trip jacks and a low draw as well. The turn was the {K-Spades} and river the {10-Spades}, giving Singontiko Broadway and a scoop of the pot.

That bumps Singontiko up close to 700,000, while Sharaskin slips back to about 600,000.

The Craziness Continues

John Reiss
John Reiss

John Reiss made it 70,000 from late position and it folded around ti Jeff Gibralter who put Reiss all in for 111,000 total. Reiss called and the two flipped up their hands.

Reiss: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Gibratler: {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the two on the river gave Reiss the wheel and was good for a double up and a huge fist pump. The hands have been crazy and the all ins have been plentiful. We've only just started so stay tuned.

I Will Make a Stand... Eventually

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

It folded around to David Singontiko who opened with a raise to 40,000 on the button. Robert Campbell folded, then chip leader Jeffrey Gibralter reraised pot from the big blind.

The action back on him, Singontiko sat for a moment in silence, then piped up. "I - will - not - be - pushed - a - round!" he said with a kind of mock anger, shaking his fist to punctuate each syllable. Then a sheepish grin spread across his face.

"Yeah, I will," he said, and pushed his cards forward. The table laughed in response.

Other than that recent skirmish with John Reiss, Gibralter has been relatively quiet since that huge double-up in the first orbit versus David Sands that gave him the chip lead. He still sits with about 1.35 million, though, plenty of chips with which to try to push around others. Singontiko is in fact his nearest challenger right now with a little over half that stack.

The Trading Of Chips Continues

Michael Yee
Michael Yee

The chip line up is much much different than it was when we started the day less than two hours ago, and with a game like Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better it should be no surprise.

In this particular hand, Michael Yee opened for 58,000 in early position and got a call from Marco Oliveira in the small blind.

The flop came down {2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Oliveira checked. Yee bet 73,000 and Oliveira check-raised him all in and Yee called for a total of 246,000.

Oliveira: {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Yee: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Yee kept calling for high cards and he got his wish as the turn was the {q-Hearts} and the river was the {9-Hearts} Yee scooped the pot to go up to 655,000. Oliveira fell to 225,000
