Gavin Smith - Day 3 chip leader

Leading the field of 42 players is none other than Gavin Smith, who tops the chip counts at 864,000 and seeking his second WSOP bracelet. Hot on his heels is James Boyle (850,000), Ryan Gooindo (838,00), Matt Lawrence (772,000) and Hasan Anter (719,000). A couple of the other players to watch out for include Bryn Kenney (554,000) and founder of ChipMeUp Rayan "rkruok" Nathan (393,000).

Lawrence Off to a Great Start

Unlike yesterday's frenetic action, Day 3 of WSOP Event #56 has gotten off to a rather sedate start. However, Matt Lawrence is now our first player to reach one million in chips after winning a pot against Scott Abrams.

On a flop that read {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Abrams led out for 33,000 into a pot worth around 80,000 and Lawrence called before the dealer peeled off the {J-Spades} on the turn. Abrams checked, Lawrence bet 45,000 and Abrams mulled it over for a couple of minutes before dropping his hand into the muck.

Strickland Busted by Park

Yoonjun Park opened with a raise in late position and Albert Strickland moved all in right behind him. Park tabled {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} and was ahead of Strickland's {A-Clubs} {5-Spades}.

The board ran {6-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and Strickland's very short Day 3 came to an end.

Gravatt Surrenders to Zajdner

Our PokerNews reporter picked up the action on a board that read {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}; Jason Gravatt bet out 55,000 and Mark Zajdner called before both players checked down the river {4-Clubs}.

"You should be good," Gravatt said, rolling up {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. "I know I'm good," Zajdner replied, showing down {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for two pair and the win.
