Four World Champs Among Final 136 at the Start of Day 2!

Yesterday, the 2012 World Series of Poker continued with Event #18 $2,500 Seven Card Razz, which attracted 309 players and created a prize pool of $702,975. Over the course of eight levels of play, 174 players hit the felt, leaving just 136 looking to make the money at the top 32; what’s more, each have their eyes set on the $182,793 top prize.

The man best positioned to make a run toward the money is the Day 1 chip leader, Tommy Vedes, who bagged up 44,600. Standing in his way is an eclectic mix of experienced players including former WSOP Main Event winners Tom McEvoy, Phil Hellmuth, Greg Raymer and Berry Johnston; online stars Jared “harrington25” Bleznick and Kami “Dr. Kamikaze” Chisholm; former Razz champ Barry Greenstein; and young pros Bryan Micon and Joe Tehan.

Some others who’ll be returning to action, albeit with less than stellar stacks, are last Stephen Su, David Bach, Owais Ahmed, Chris Viox, Mickey Doft, Sam Grizzle, Maxwell Troy, Andy Bloch, Jennifer Harman, Tom Schneider and Scott Clements.

We didn't catch the action, but we saw Sardor Gaziev walking away from Table 436. We glanced at the table as saw that he was drawing dead headed into seventh street against Jerry Wong and didn't even stick around to see his last card.

Last Year's Runner-Up Eliminated

We didn't catch the hand, but we can confirm that last year's runner-up, Stephen Su, has been eliminated from the tournament. He started the day with just 3,600, and unfortunately for him he couldn't run it up. Likewise, Ingram Boykins and Corey Burbick have joined him on the rail.

Burbick Busts

Corey Burbick was very short coming into today - he only had one and a half small bets. He got the last of his chips in the middle with a {4-} showing, Michael Noori completed with a {2-} , and another player called with a {5-} . On fourth street, Noori bet, and his opponent called, but on fifth, Noori's opponent mucked. The boards ran out like this.

Pezzin Finds a Double

We caught up with the action on fourth street, where Pezzin bet and Back raised. O'Dell and Davis released, and Pezzin called. On fifth, there was a bet, a raise all in, and a call. Pezzin tabled {6-} {5-} , and Back showed {a-} {4-} . Pezzin picked up running eights to make an eighty-seven, while Back was dealt two face cards.

Pezzin more than doubled to around 20,000 chips.
