Ron Burke Eliminated in 17th Place ($11,071)

Ron Burke - 17th Place
Ron Burke - 17th Place

The first elimination of the day has just taken place, with Ron Burke falling to the rail in 17th place. We caught the action from the turn with a board already showing {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} and Burke involved in the hand with Raymond Dehkharghani. Burke was busy leading on this street and Dehkharghani quickly made it an extra bet. That was enough to put Burke all-in as he committed his last 12,500 in chips.

Dehkharghani: {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Burke: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Burke needed to catch some help on the river, but when a {7-Hearts} fell, it was all over for him as he goes home with a bittersweet $11,071.

Mike Schneider Eliminated in 16th Place ($11,071)

Mike Schneider - 16th Place
Mike Schneider - 16th Place

It took two hands to see Mike Schneider's tournament come to and end and this is how it went down. The first hand was between Schneider and Jeff Shulman. Schneider opened the pot in that hand and Shulman made the call in the big blind. Schneider then led on a {k-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} flop and then folded to a re-raise by Shulman. That left him with only 12,000 in chips - less than one big bet.

The next hand saw Schneider raise it up from under the gun, which put him all in. Andrew Prock made the call in the big blind and the two players turned their hands over.

Schneider: {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Prock: {q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Unfortunately for Schneider, the board ran out {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs}, with the queen on the river sending Prock the pot and sending Schneider to the rail.

Douglas Rutherford Eliminated in 15th Place ($13,138)

Douglas Rutherford - 15th Place
Douglas Rutherford - 15th Place

Just a short while after we lost our 16th place finisher, we have now lost Douglas Rutherford in 15th. Rutherford was quite short stacked coming into the last hand of his tournament. It all started when Rutherford opened the pot from middle position. Matt Glantz called in the big blind and a {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop was dealt out on the felt.

Both players checked the flop, while the {a-Hearts} on the turn would see Glantz lead and then Rutherford make it two bets. Glantz called and an {8-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Glantz led on the river and Rutherford called his last 12,000 into the pot.

When Glantz tabled {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a full house, Rutherford's cards went flying into the muck and he made his way out of the tournament area.

Kenneth Shei Eliminated in 14th Place ($13,138)

Kenneth Shei - 14th Place
Kenneth Shei - 14th Place

The eliminations have been flying fast during this second level of play today, with Kenneth Shei the latest addition to the rail. The last hand of Shei's night started when Terrence Chan opened up the pot from under the gun. Shei was in middle position and made it three-bets to go. Back on Chan and he made it four-bets. Shei made the call and a {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop was dealt.

At this point Shei had less then a big bet left and got the remainder of his stack in on the flop. Chan's {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} was in great shape against Shei's {k-Spades}{10-Spades} as he Shei would need some help. It was help that would never come as the turn ({j-Spades}) and the river ({6-Diamonds}) would see Shei sent home in 14th place.

Chris Overgard Eliminated in 13th Place ($13,138)

Chris Overgard - 13th Place
Chris Overgard - 13th Place

Chris Overgard has just seen his tournament life come to an end over the course of two hands. We were there to see the hand that left him with just a couple of big bets. Overgard opened the button and Chan three-bet out of the small blind. Overgard made the call and then proceeded to call three streets of betting from Chan on a {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board. At the end of the hand, Chan tabled {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, enough to take down the pot and see Overgard crippled.

Just a few hands later and we noticed that Overgard was busy gathering his belongings and leaving the tournament area in 13th place.

Terrence Chan Eliminated in 12th Place ($15,830)

Terrence Chan - 12th Place
Terrence Chan - 12th Place

Terrence Chan will have to be content with six cashes and no final tables here at the 2012 World Series of Poker, because he has just been eliminated. It took two hands to end Chan's tournament.

The first saw Matthew Woodward open the button. Chan then three-bet in the small blind before it was four bets from Ayman Qutami in the big blind. Back on Woodward and he put in another raise. Chan called all the bets and Quatmi also flicked in a call as a flop {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Chan then folded to heat on this flop, leaving himself with just over 30,000.

The last hand of Chan's tournament saw Chan raise from the button and then get the remainder of his chips in when Qutami three-bet out of the small blind. Chan tabled his {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Quatmi his {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. The {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} board was no help to Chan as he was eliminated in 12th place.

Matt Szymaszek -11th Place
Matt Szymaszek -11th Place

Matt Szymaszek's elimination has seen just 10 players remain and the action move to the unofficial final table. Szymaszek's last hand saw him all in for his short-stack preflop holding {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Unfortunately for Szymaszek he was up against Raymond Dehkharghani's {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

The board was spread out looking like this, {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}, with no miracle card for Szymaszek as he goes home in 11th place.

Samuel Golbuff Eliminated in 10th Place ($15,830)

Samuel Golbuff - 10th Place
Samuel Golbuff - 10th Place

Just a few hands into the unofficial final table and we have lost our 10th-place finisher. The player was Samuel Golbuff and his last hand played out like so.

Golbuff opened it up from middle position and Andrew Prock three-bet. Nicholas Derke then four-bet on the button and Golbuff made it one more bet to go. Prock made the call and so did Derke.

Flop: {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}

On the flop, Golbuff flicked in his last 3,000 and his two opponents called as a {7-Hearts} hit the turn. Golbuff watched on as Prock fired out a bet. Derke called and a {6-Hearts} hit the river. Prock again flicked in a bet and this time Derke folded.

Golbuff tabled his {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, but it wasn't strong enough for the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} that Prock held. With that, we are down to nine and our final table is set.

Ayman Qutami Eliminated in 9th Place ($19,395)

Ayman Qutami - 9th place
Ayman Qutami - 9th place

We have just lost our first player here at the final table, with Ayman Qutami our 9th-place finisher. His last hand started when he opened it up from middle position. Andrew Prock was in the big blind and called as a {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop was dealt on the felt. Qutami led and then called the extra bet from Prock. The {3-Spades} turn and Qutami would commit the last of his chips and turn over {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} to be in front of the {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} of Prock.

Unfortunately for Qutami, the {6-Hearts} on the river would give Prock two-pair, to see him rivered and eliminated.

Nicholas Derke Eliminated in 8th Place ($24,139)

Nicholas Derke - 8th Place
Nicholas Derke - 8th Place

Nicholas Derke's last hand began when Andrew Prock opened the cutoff. Derke was on the button and made the call and a {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop would hit the felt. Prock check called a bet here and a {k-Clubs} hit the turn. Prock again checked, but this time raised when Derke put in a bet. Derke then called all-in and turned over his {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}, which would need help against the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} of Prock.

The {q-Diamonds} on the river wasn't what Derke was looking for and he was sent home in 8th place. With that hand, Prock takes a chip lead.
