Defeat three tables and win a World Series of Poker bracelet. It sounds like an easy task in theory, but 365 people would disagree with you. That being said, one person was able to accomplish what the others could not and accumulate all of the chips on the table three days in a row. Brian Meinders was able to defeat Darin Thomas heads up to take home $116,118 in prize money and his first gold WSOP bracelet.

Despite being one of the smaller buy-in events at the WSOP, this event drew a rather stacked field. Many professionals swarmed to this event with the hopes of being able to attain WSOP glory. Among those to lose to their first table in this event were Joseph Cheong, Barry Shulman, Viktor Blom, Jonathan Little, Phil Hellmuth, Marcel Luske, Maria Ho and many more.

Fifty players were able to earn the title of Day 1 champion and lock up a guaranteed cash of $3,088. Of those fifty, only ten would move on to the final table. Several notable names came close on Day 2, only to fall short of making the prestigious WSOP final table. Greg Mueller, JJ Liu, Scott Seiver, Justin Bonomo, Matt Matros, and Mike Leah were among those to walk away from Event 25 with a min-cash. The ten who did make it on though were guaranteed at least $7,164 and only had to best nine others to attain WSOP immortality.

Play at the final table started out rather slow as the players went for three levels without seeing an elimination. However, someone wise once said that when it rains, it pours, and that idea was certainly applicable to the bust outs of this final table.

Our first casualty came when Christopher Hartman got the last of his chips in and was called by Matthrew Schreiber and Victor Ramdin. Schreiber was able to pair an ace on the river with his {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} and just like that Hartman was sent to the rail in tenth place.

After Hartman's elimination, players began busting from the final table at a rapid pace. The next to go was Ian Johns, who found himself fortunate enough to get his entire stack all in while holding {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Unfortunately, he was up against {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} of Brian Meinders, who was running remarkably hot. Sure enough, Meidners was able to spike the {J-Spades} on the river and send Johns home with $9,225 in ninth place money.

Sean Rice was the next victim of Meinders' fury, getting it in on a {8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{K-Spades} board holding {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Unfortunately for Rice, Meinders held a higher ace in the form of {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and it was able to hold through the fourth and fifth street.

Immediately after Rice's elimination, a short-stacked Schreiber got it all in before the flop against Christopher Vitch.

Showdown

Schreiber: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Vitch: {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

Schreiber was in good shape to find a double up here, but when Vitch paired up on the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, all of his hope seemed to fade away. The board finished with the {8-Clubs} and the {5-Hearts} and Schreiber was sent to collect $15,474 prize money for his seventh place finish.

Preston Derden finished in sixth place when he moved his last 20,000 chips in preflop and was called by both Brian Meinders and Brock Parker. Parker held pocket kings and Meinders held ace-king against Derden's {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Continuing to run hot, Meinders found two aces on the flop and was able to eliminate Derden while also taking a nice sized side pot off of Parker. Parker would soon after be eliminated in fifth place when he moved in with {Q-Spades}{5-Hearts} before the flop and was called by both Meinders and Vitch. Meidners was able to turn pocket nines into nines full of kings by the end of the hand, sending Parker packing.

Team PokerStars pro Victor Ramdin ended the day with a fourth place finish when he moved his short stack in with a gutshot on the flop and was eliminated by Meinders' middle pair.

After the dinner break, Christopher Vitch found himself losing a few pots and eventually moved all in with {K-Spades}{5-Clubs} against Darin Thomas' {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Thomas flopped a deuce and Vitch was unable to improve, sending him to the rail in third place and thrusting the two remaining players into heads up play.

Meinders had a fairly large chip advantage going into heads up play and he continued the aggressive style that he had been employing throughout the entire final table. Thomas put up a good fight but in the end if was Meinders who came out victorious.

Thomas got his short stack all in with {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} on a {8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} board. His pair was ahead of the {5-Spades}{3-Spades} of Meinders.

The {4-Clubs} turn gave Meinders straight outs and Meinders was able to make the winning hand when the {7-Spades} peeled off on the river. Thomas will take home $71,704 for his efforts.

Brian Meinders raised preflop and a short-stacked Darin Thomas called. The flop was {8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} and Thomas checked. Meinders bet and Thomas raised, and after a series of raises the two got it all in.

Meinders: {5-Spades}{3-Spades}
Thomas: {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Meinders was looking for spades and found even more outs when the {4-Clubs} turned. The {7-Spades} drilled the river, fulfilling both his straight and flush, and giving him the winning hand. Thomas will take home $71,704 for his efforts.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Meinders bet once more. Thomas called but mucked when Meinders showed {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped pair of nines.

Christopher Vitch - 3rd Place

Christopher Vitch opened with a raise from the button and Darin Thomas three-bet from the big blind. Vitch pushed out a four-bet and Thomas raised to put Vitch all in.

Thomas: {J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Vitch: {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}

The flop came {Q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Vitch was in need of either a king or a five to stay alive. The deck refused to oblige, however, with the turn coming {6-Clubs} and the river {Q-Hearts}. Vitch will collect $51,861 for his efforts.

Victor Ramdin Eliminated in 4th Place ($37,897)

Victor Ramdin - 4th Place
Victor Ramdin - 4th Place

Victor Ramdin has had a swingy last level and that swing has seen him fly straight out of this tournament in 4th place.

The last hand of Ramdin's tournament began when he raised the cutoff. Brian Mienders raised it up in the big blind and Ramdin made the call.

Flop: {5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}

On the flop, Meinders led out with a bet and Ramdin raised it up, leaving himself with just a big bet and a touch more. Mienders then raised it and very suddenly, Ramdin had the remainder of his chips in the middle.

"I need a ten," said Ramdin as he tabled his {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

He wasn't completely dead to ten though, with Meinders holding just {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. However when the {9-Diamonds} turn and the {7-Diamonds} river hit the felt, it was all over for Ramdin.

Brock Parker Eliminated in 5th Place ($27,986)

Brock Parker - 5th Place
Brock Parker - 5th Place

Brock Parker opened with a raise and Christopher Vitch three-bet. Brian Meinders called and Parker four-bet the rest of his stack all in. Both Vitch and Meinders called and we were off to the flop.

The dealer pounded the table and brought forth a flop of {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. Vitch checked and Meinders bet out. Vitch opted to raise and Meinders called the bet. The {K-Diamonds} turned and Vitch bet once again. Meinders was the one to raise on this street and Vitch called.

The board was finished when the {10-Spades} struck table. Vitch checked and Meinders bet. Vitch was visibly upset at the river card but tossed in a call anyway. Meinders tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for nines full of kings and Vitch mucked his hand.

Parker flipped up {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades} and made his way off of the Pavilion stage to collect his $27,986 in tournament winnings.

Preston Derden Eliminated in 6th Place ($20,886)

Preston Derden - 6th Place
Preston Derden - 6th Place

"C'mon now Bruce," said Preston Derden to the dealer when he had a portion of his tiny stack already committed in the big blind.

In the hand in question, Victor Ramdin opened it up with a raise from under the gun. Brock Parker then three-bet on his direct left and it was on Brian Meinders on the button. He opted to four-bet and Derden quickly tumbled in his last chips (a total of 20,000). Ramdin then got out of the way and Parker made the call.

Derden was on his feet and watched as the dealer spread out a {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} board. On the flop Parker check-called a bet from Meinders and both players checked the turn. The river saw Parker lead and Meinders raise. Parker called and the three players turned their hands over.

Meinders: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Parker: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Derden: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Derden paired his nine on the flop, but it wasn't strong enough for either Parker or Meinder's holdings. In the end, Meinders raked in the pot and Derden shook all the hands at the table and made his way out of the tournament in a gallant 6th place.

Matthew Schreiber Eliminated in 7th Place ($15,747)

Matthew Schreiber - 7th Place
Matthew Schreiber - 7th Place

The eliminations have been flying fast in the late stages of this level, with Matthew Schreiber the latest addition to the rail. Schreiber was fairly short stacked heading into the final hand of his tournament, with his bust-out starting like this.

Schreiber opened from early position and the action was folded to Christopher Vitch in the big blind. He asked Schreiber how much he had left and once satisfied with an answer, he three-bet. Schreiber then committed the last of his chips and the two players turned their hands over.

Schreiber: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Vitch: {j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

Schreiber was in terrific shape, that is he was until the {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop hit the felt. The {8-Clubs} turn and the {5-Hearts} river were no help to Schreiber and he made his way out the door in 7th place.

Sean Rice was able to double his short stack a mere two hands earlier, but found himself all in during this hand against chip leader Brian Meinders.

Rice raised preflop only to have Meinders three-bet. It folded back to Rice who four-bet and Meinders capped the action. The two saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Rice got the rest of his stack in on this board.

Rice: {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Meinders: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Rice had an ace-high but Meinders was holding a higher one. The board completed with the {4-Clubs} and {2-Hearts} and just like that Rice was sent to the rail, collecting $11,992 in prize money.

Ian Johns Eliminated in 9th Place ($9,225)

Ian Johns - 9th Place

Ian Johns raised preflop only to find Brian Meinders three-bet. Johns four-bet and Meinders five-bet Johns all in. The hands were turned over only to find that Johns was way out in the lead.

Johns: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Meinders: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

A flop of {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} was spread in front of the two and Johns' aces were still way in the lead. The {6-Spades} turned and Meinders was in need of one of the two remaining black jacks left in the deck. Fortunately for Meinders, that's exactly what peeled off on the river. The {j-Spades} completed the board and just like that Johns' aces were cracked and he became our ninth place finisher
