Event 26: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Day 2 Started

Welcome to Day 2 of Event 26: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Good afternoon and welcome to Day 2 of Event #26 $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha. This tournament attracted 589 entries thus creating a prize pool of $1,607,970. Last night, 138 players made it through the first day of frantic four-card action and leading all of them was Joseph Ressler who bagged up 122,100 chips. Ressler has big time World Series of Poker (WSOP) experience, finishing fifth for $105,967 in the $5,000 Six-Handed version of this event last year.

Today's goal is to make it through the day and if anyone does that they are going to be earning a pay check. The top 63 people are going to receive a pay day with $5,226 guaranteed for making it into the money. The first-place prize of $361,797 will be fought for tomorrow.

Other players to keep your eyes on include WSOP bracelet winners Matt 'Pez' Perrins, Galen Kester and Robert Williamson III. Defending champion Sam Stein is also in the field, as is the 700-chip stack of Phil Ivey (although it's still a question if will see the man himself).

Play continues at 14:00 PM and we will be bringing all of the very best action at PokerNews.

Ivey Eliminated

Phil Ivey made it to Day 2 of this event without ever playing a hand on Day 1. The reason? He was busy working his magic over in Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better where he finished the day as the chip leader with 27 players left.

Because he was simply blinded off all day yesterday, Ivey made Day 2 with just 700 in chips. He never showed up today, either, as he's over in the other event, but his 700 in chips were put in when it was his turn to be the big blind. As soon as the dealer pitched out all the cards, his hand was mucked and his chips pulled into the pot. So much for that $3,000 investment.

Williamson III Doubles

There was about 13,000 already in the pot going to the {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop between Lee Thomas and Robert Williamson III. Thomas bet 5,200 and Williamson raised to 12,800 and was all in. Thomas called.

Williamson: {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Thomas: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}

When the money went in, Thomas held two pair and a straight draw. Williamson had top pair, a straight draw and overs. The turn {K-Diamonds} gave Williamson a better two pair and the river {8-Hearts} gave him a jack-high straight. Williamson won the pot and doubled up to almost 40,000 in chips.

Darcourt Beaten By The Flush

We joined the action on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and with three players in the hand including Shreeniwas Kelkar (BB) and Guillame Darcourt (EP). The action checked through to the turn where we saw the {7-Clubs}, the player in the small blind checked, Kelkar bet 3,200 and Darcourt called. So two players left to see the river and the {2-Diamonds}. Kelkar made a small 2,200 bet and Darcourt made the call. Kelkar tabled {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {5-Spades} for the flush and Darcourt mucked his hand.

Shreeniwas Kelka has 6 World Series of Poker (WSOP) cashes to his name including 1 in this format. Guillaume Darcourt has 3 WSOP cashes to his name and 1 in this format.
