Cantu and Lichtenberger Clash

As Lee Watkinson was busting from a neighboring table, the big names and big stacks of Brandon Cantu and Andrew Lichtenberger were clashing in a big pot.

Lichtenberger opened to 2,200 from the button and called when Cantu three-bet to 7,000 from the small blind. Cantu drew one and Lichtenberger stood pat.

Cantu thought hard about what do, cut out 14,000 from his stack, and went to bet. It looked as if he changed his mind but then he went back to the 14,000 and slid them forward.

Lichtenberger looked lie he was going to raise but elected to just call with a ninety-seven.

Cantu drew well though and opened the winning {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a seventy-six smooth.

Number 2 vs Number 2

Leo Margets
Leo Margets

Chopped pots are a rare sight in this tournament, but we just caught a massive one between Leo Margets and Konstantin Puchkov.

Puchkov started off under the gun and raised to 2,100, and Margets opted to three-bet from the cutoff to 5,100. Both blinds folded and after some tanking the Russian decided to call.

Puchkov drew one card, Margets stood pat.

The action was on Puchkov who announced a 10,000 chip bet, and quickly Margets put her opponent all in. "I call," Puchkov said in a hurry after we got to showdown.

Margets turned over {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, and one of the players at the table pointed out, "That's what we call a number two".

Puchkov took a good look at Margets cards, before finally turning over his {7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

"And that's also a number two," the same player said as the pot was chopped.

"I folded a number three, Devo," Erick Lindgren shouted at Bryan Devonshire who laughed as he watched what was going on that table. "I could see it in their eyes" he added.

Margets still has a big stack while Puchkov is also looking healthy as we approach the money bubble.

Benvenuti Double-Double

Michael Benvenuti was moved to the left of Michael Mizrachi and Scott Fischman. Maybe not the best seat but certainly a seat where he has the potential to build a big stack. Two quick double-ups and he's on his way.

We missed the first hand where Mizrachi doubled him up, but we caught the second hand where Fischman doubled him up.

Mizrachi raised to 2,000 and Fischman called. Benvenuti squeezed to 8,300 and called all in for 29,650 when Fischman shoved after Mizrachi folded. Both players stood pat and the cards were revealed.

Benvenuti: {9-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}.
Fischman: {10-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}.

"Thanks for doubling him up!" Fischman said to Mizrachi.

Harman Starts Perfect and Doubles

Jennifer Harman moved all in from early position for 8,325, and the action got folded to the big blind who made the call.

The big blind stood pat, and Harman stood pat as well.

Jennifer Harman{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}
Opponent{8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}

Harman started with the unbeatable combination and managed to double up.

"It's hard to get away from this one," her opponent said as he tossed his strong starting hand into the muck.

We are still three spots off the money.

Soft Bubble For Turner

Jon Turner
Jon Turner

We are still two spots away from the money, but busting out right now sure feels like bubbling the event. Jon Turner just moved all in for right around 11,000 chips from the cutoff and Stuart Rutter made the call from the small blind.

Rutter immediately drew one cards after which Turner went into the tank. All the players that stood and sat behind him could see he was holding {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} as he picked his cards up from the table. Turner kept tapping the {Q-Clubs} and eventually he made up his mind not to break his hand.

Rutter turned over {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} and was drawing very live to bust his opponent. Rutter drew the {3-Spades} and knocked Turner out. We are down to 37 players.

Todd Bryson Bubbles, We are in the Money!

On the last hand of regular play, before the hand for hand action started, we already lost our bubble boy. Todd Bryson was all in for just 1,225 and he was up against Brandon Cantu.

Bryson drew one card, and Cantu needed two.

Brandon Cantu{9-}{6-}{3-}
Todd Bryson{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}

Bryson was a huge favorite to stay alive, but caught a {4-} to pair up. This gave Cantu many options, since he only needed to dodge a nine, six or any card that would pair up his first new on. Cantu turned over a {10-} and an {8-} giving him the best hand, and the knockout.
