Broke Living Made the Money

Jean-Robert Bellande moved on.
Jean-Robert Bellande moved on.

Jean-Robert Bellande has won his table and will be moving on. There were two hands that led to his opponent's felting. As we approached the table we heard, "Based on your lines from earlier, I know I need to open up my calling range."

When one hears that Bellande is opening his game, one stays.

It was an all in preflop where Bellande held {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} and his opponent held {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}. The board ran {J-Clubs} {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs} and Bellande doubled up his opponent's short stack.

Just two hands later all the money got in after the flop. This time Bellande had the worst of it holding {J-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} against {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}. The flop ran {A-Diamonds}[ 7d] {J-Hearts} but the diamond on came on the turn when it completed {3-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}.

"That's how I win I guess. Get it in bad and come out on top," Bellande said.

Hellmuth Steamed & Eliminated

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Phil Hellmuth steaming.
Phil Hellmuth steaming.

We caught Phil Hellmuth open for 900 and action folded around to Vitor Coelho in the big blind - who called. The flop came {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} and Coelho check-called 1,600. The turn came {J-Spades} and both players checked. The river brought the {3-Hearts}, Coelho bet 4,500 and Hellmuth tossed in a call.

Coelho tabled {9-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for a straight and Hellmuth was beside himself. "Is this real?" Hellmuth wondered aloud, followed by some hushed and muttered curses. "F@#% man, what a bad beat," he mumbled before releasing his cards.

By time we finished typing the post we saw Hellmuth get up and leave the tournament after being eliminated.
