Negreanu Makes the Double

When we arrived at Daniel Negreanu's table, he was all-in against one opponent in a hand of Stud Eight-or-Better. By the time we were there, all the cards were already dealt out. Here is how the boards looked in no specific order.

Negreanu: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: {5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

With no low for Negreanu's opponent, Negreanu's trip aces would scoop the pot. Even with that hand, Negreanu is in need of some help.

Scott Clements' Favorite Hand of the Tournament

Omaha-8

The action folded to Christopher George, who limped in from the small blind.

"I'm going to raise it up!" Scott Clements announced, loudly.

"I'm calling!" George responded, proudly.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

"Check," said George.

"Bet," Clements blurted.

"Raise," George responded without thought.

"Three bets," Clements shot back immediately.

George thought for a second, then called. The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and George checked. Clements immediately bet, and George tanked.

"This is fun!" Clements said, unprovoked. "This is my favorite hand of the tournament!"

"I'm pretty light," George admitted.

"You're probably not going to win," Clements said smiling. "If you have a flush draw, you should fold."

It was impossible for George to have a flush draw, but he mucked anyway.

"I'll show you two," Clements told him, tabling {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

The entire table erupted with laughter, then began speculating as to what Clements' other two cards were.

Daniel Negreanu: {x-}{x-} / {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} / {x-}
John Cernuto: {x-}{x-} / {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} / {x-}
George Danzer: {x-}{x-} / {k-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} / {x-}

Daniel Negreanu has played his last hand and it went down like this. We arrived at the table on fourth street - when Negreanu was committing his last chips against John Cernuto and George Danzer. On fifth street, Cernuto led and Danzer called, same as on sixth and again on seventh.

At showdown, Cernuto turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}, his trip eights and eighty-six low good enough to trump Negreanu and Danzer. With that, Negreanu was sent packing.

Bronshtein and Weinberger Chop Big Pot

Stud 8

When we arrived at Table 447, Yuval Bronshtein, Joseph Weinberger and Desmond Portano were committing five bets during the first round of betting. By the hand of the hand, here's what the board cards looked like.

Yuval Bronshtein: {x-}{x-} / {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} / {x-}
Joseph Weinberger: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} / {x-}
Desmond Portano: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} / {x-}

Fourth street saw Bronshtein lead and both his opponents call.On fifth street, Bronshtein led, Portano committed the last of his chips with a raise (6,200 total) and Weinberger called. Bronshtein then raised it up and Weinberger again called. On sixth, Bronshtein led and Weinberger called.

The final card saw Weinberger check and say, "i have a low," before Brenshtein had a chance to act. Bronshtein ended up checking behind and tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for three nines (they were rolled up). Weinberger's {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} was good for the low and Portano tabled {a-Hearts}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs}- not enough to save himself.

Danzer and Davis Chip Up

Stud-8

Raymond Davis is doing far better than a few hours ago, thanks in part to picking up a few chips in this hand with George Danza and one other opponent.

Davis: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} / {x-}
Danzer: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades} / {x-}
Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} / {x-}

When we arrived at the table, it was on fifth street and Danzer was being the aggressor, as he was on sixth and seventh. Both Davis and the other player called every street and it was on to showdown. Danzer held {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, enough for a seventy-four low and two-pair. Davis held {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades} for trips and no low, while the other player mucked. And with that, David and Danzer split the other player's chips.
