Parker Finds a Double

After the player in the hijack raised to 525, James Akenhead three-bet to around 1,400 from the cutoff. Brock Parker then four-bet shoved from the button for 6,375. The original raiser folded, but Akenhead felt he was priced in to call.

Parker: {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Akenhead: {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Parker faded disaster to double up to around 13,600. Akenhead was chopped down to 16,000.

Jason DeWitt, the 2010 champion of this event, is also seated at this table. He's working with 6,500 right now.

Kings No Good, Baby

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

Scott Nguyen opened the action to 900 from early position. The player in the cutoff made the call and with the blinds out of the way, the dealer readied three cards.

Flop: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

On the flop, Neguyen checked and then called a bet of 1,000 from his opponent. Both players then checked the {q-Hearts} turn and it was on to the {7-Spades} river. Nguyen again check-called a bet, this time of 1,400.

"Alright baby, let's see if i lose with king-king again," said Nguyen as he tabled {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. His opponent turned over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}, with the rivered set enough to give him the win.

Ivey Picking Up More Chips

Phil Ivey has just raked in another small pot and it played out like this. The under the gun player limped and it was around to Ivey in the hijack and he also limped. The small blind folded and the big blind tapped the table as we made out way to a {q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop. All three players checked the flop and the {2-Hearts} hit the turn. The big blind checked here and the under the gun bet 1,000. Ivey called, while the other player folded.

On the {7-Hearts} river, Ivey's opponent checked and then folded to Ivey's bet of 3,000 as Ivey took down the pot and added some chips to his stack.

Table 19 Ain't Getting Any Easier

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

We're starting to develop some conspiracy theories over at the media desk concerning Table 19. Some players have busted and new ones have taken their seat.

At the table:

  • Brandon Meyers
  • Noah Schwartz
  • Adam Friedman
  • Darryll Fish
  • Allen Kessler
  • Chris Brammer
  • Jeffrey Lisandro

Scott Seiver Busts

Moments after being crippled down to around 1,000 in chips, Scott Seiver open-shoved from the button with {J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. The small blind called with {A-Spades}{2-Spades}, and it was off to the races.

The dealer rolled out a {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board and Seiver's pair of jacks was second best.

Hellmuth Takes One Down, Then Loses One

A player in middle position opened up the pot to 850. The player in the cutoff made the call, along with Phil Hellmuth on the button.

Flop: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

On the flop, the preflop aggressor checked and the cutoff bet 1,000. It didn't take long for Hellmuth to raise it up to 2,500. This bet was too strong for both of his opponents as he raked in the small pot to his chip stack sit a little healthier than it was five minutes ago.

However, we turned around for just a minute or two and when we looked back at Hellmuth's table he looked a little tilted as an opponent raked in a pot against him and it was back to square one.
