Vogel Takes A Hit

Donald Vogel started the day as our chip leader, and after a few levels of staying in neutral, he shot back to the top of our leaderboard. However, he has just taken a hit that has cut out a third of his stack. We caught the action on a flop that read {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. Vogel and his opponent got into a raising war that saw Vogel's opponent get his 200,000 into the middle. The cards were flipped, and it was obvious why the players got the money in.

Vogel: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Vogel held an overpair, but had to fade the straight and flush draws of his opponent. He did that on the turn, the {j-Hearts}, but the river brought the {5-Spades}, giving his opponent a winning straight.

Vogel is still plenty healthy with 425,000, but he would have retaken the chip lead had he won the hand.
