Haddox Continues His Run

A player in early position raised it up to 1,600 and Randy Haddox called from middle position. The cutoff player also called, and action found its way onto the big blind who moved all in for 4,700. The initial raiser was the first to make the call, Haddox followed suit, and the cutoff did the same.

The flop came {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} prompting a check from the early position player and a bet of 2,525 from Haddox. The cutoff paid to see the turn and the early position player folded.

The {Q-Clubs} then made an appearance on fourth street, and both Haddox and the cutoff checked. The dealer then plopped down the {4-Spades} on the river, it was here that Haddox bet out 9,900 and the cutoff folded.

Haddox scooped up the small side pot, but there was still a main pot to be won. Haddox flipped over {k-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} for two pair kings and queens and the all in big blind mucked his cards and made his exit.

Phil Ivey's 2012 WSOP Is Over

Phil Ivey (Day 1c) eliminated from the 2012 WSOP Main Event
Phil Ivey (Day 1c) eliminated from the 2012 WSOP Main Event

Phil Ivey had been quietly folding and waiting for a spot during the first several hands at his table. About 35 minutes into the day, he finally got involved.

Action folded to Rebhi Attiyah on the button and he limped in for 500. In the small blind, Pedro Piazuelo made the call and then Ivey raised to 2,500 out of the big blind with a little under 8,000 behind. Attiyah folded, but Piazuelo moved all in. Ivey snapped his head to the right when he heard Piazuelo make the all-in move and then looked back forward. With a fling of his cards, his hand went into the muck and Ivey fell shorter.

On the next hand, action folded back to Attiyah in the cutoff seat and he limped in for the second hand in a row. From the small blind, Phil Ivey raised all in for 7,675. Nick DiVella was in the big blind and took a minute to himself. He then made the call. Attiyah tanked long and hard before eventually folding his hand and letting DiVella battle with the at-risk Ivey.

Ivey showed the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} for the smallest pair available. DiVella had the {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

On the flop, the {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} fell and Ivey fell behind to DiVella's two pair. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Ivey needed to find one of the two remaining deuces on the river to stay alive.

The river completed the board with the {8-Hearts} and Ivey couldn't find what he needed. He was up and out of his chair in an instant, darting through to the back hallways and out of the Rio.

And with that, Ivey's 2012 World Series of Poker has come to an end.

Lacay On Right Side of Cooler

We don't know the exact action, but we do know that Ludovic Lacay and Sun Wong got in a raising war preflop. When we got to the table, we saw that Wong had a bet of 8,500 in front of him from the small blind, and that Lacay had clicked it back to 16,000 in the hijack. Wong made the call, and they went heads up to a flop of {3-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Both players checked, and the turn brought the {q-Diamonds}. Wong checked to Lacay, who fired out 10,000. Wong responded with a min raise to 20,000, and Lacay asked Wong how much he had left. When he found out, Lacay tossed enough chips in to put Wong all in, and Wong made the call.

Lacay: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Wong: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

It was a brutal turn card for Wong, as he hit his set, but was drawing to one card in the deck for the win. It didn't come, as the river brought the {8-Diamonds}. Lacay collected the bounty, and the new chips he earned pushed him over the 100,000 mark.

Brammer Picked Off

Folded to Chris Brammer in the small blind, he raised it up to 1,350. Aaron Potter was in the big blind and made the call, prompting the dealer to spread out a {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop. Brammer led for 1,600 here and with a call from Potter, the dealer flipped over a {6-Spades} on the turn.

When both players checked the turn, a {k-Hearts} would complete the board on the river. This time Brammer would bet 3,600 and Potter would go deep into tank. Almost two minutes passed before Potter made the call. As soon as Potter's chips hit the felt, Brammer had flung his cards into the muck. The dealer said that someone had to show their cards to win the pot and Potter tabled {7-Clubs}{5-Spades} - strong enough regardless, as Brammer's cards were already lost in a sea of muck cards.

Adams Adds 'Em

Brandon Adams began the day with one of the big stacks. During the first hour he lost a few chips, but just added a few back in a hand versus Igor Sharaskin.

Adams opened with a raise to 1,500 from middle position, and Sharaskin called from the hijack seat. The flop came {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and when Adams continued for 2,200, Sharaskin quickly called. The turn then brought the {2-Spades} and another bet from Adams, this time for 4,800. Sharaskin tanked for two minutes, then let his hand go.

Tilly Makes an "Expensive Mistake"

We caught up with the action on a {2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades} board, where Jennifer Tilly was in a heads-up pot against another player.

Tilly's opponent checked from the big blind and Tilly bet 4,000 from the hijack seat. Her opponent called.

The {4-Spades} completed the board and both players checked.

"Two-pair," Tilly announced.

"Two-pair?" her opponent replied.

"Wait, no," Tilly said, re-checking her hand. "I misread my hand."

Tilly's opponent then tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of aces.

"Well that was an expensive mistake," Tilly said as she mucked.

Tilly is down to her last 9,500.

Bonding Doubles

A middle position player opened to 1,200 only to have Lars Bonding three-bet to 2,700 from the button. It folded back around to the original raiser and he made it 5,000 to go. Bonding opted to five-bet to an unknown amount from the button and his opponent quickly six-bet all in. He had Bonding covered and Bonding snap called for his last 33,000.

Bonding: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}, allowing Bonding's aces to hold and scoring him a double up to roughly 68,000.

One Moreno Down

An early-position player made it 1,250 to go and Athanasios Polychronopoulos called from middle position before Tony Moreno also called from the hijack seat. The big blind also called and the flop came down {J-}{10-}{7-} rainbow. Action checked to Polychronopoulos and he bet 2,850. Moreno raised to 7,600 and play folded back to Polychronopoulos. He moved all in and Moreno made the call to put himself at risk.

Polychronopoulos: {J-}{J-}
Moreno: {10-}{10-}

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and river the {K-Diamonds} to eliminate Moreno from the tournament. His family and friends are now rooting for his brother Andrew Moreno.

Buona Fortuna

John Juanda opened to 1,250 from early position, David Paredes called in middle position, Bryan Buonocore called near the button, and Ravi Raghavan defended his big blind.

The dealer fanned {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, and the action checked to Buonocore, who fired 2,200. Only Paredes called.

The turn was the {k-Spades}, Paredes checked again, and Buonocore tossed out 3,850, Paredes called.

The {5-Spades} completed the board, and both players checked. Buonocore tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}, and Paredes mucked his hand.
