Robert Corcione Eliminated in 21st Place ($294,601)

Robert Corcione - 21st Place
Robert Corcione - 21st Place

After Scott Abrams raised to 340,000 from early position, Robert Corcione reraised all in for around 4.3 million from the button. Action folded back to Abrams and he called with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Corcione was at risk with the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop put Abrams in front when the {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{3-Clubs} fell. The turn {8-Hearts} gave Corcione some more hope with a straight draw, but the {8-Spades} on the river wasn't what he needed. Corcione was eliminated in 21st place and took home $294,601.

Thomas Crosses 20 Million-Chip Mark

Russell Thomas now has over 20 million chips
Russell Thomas now has over 20 million chips

Jamie Robbins opened to 350,000 from early position, and Russell Thomas called in the cutoff seat. The dealer fanned {4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and Robbins led out for 525,000. Thomas called.

The turn was the {q-Spades}, and Robbins led for 1.1 million. Thomas again called.

The {7-Hearts} completed the board, and Robbins fired a final bullet worth 1.6 million. Thomas called, and Robbins tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for king-high.

Thomas turned over {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a pair of queens, and is the first player to cross the 20 million-chip mark.

Ausmus Assumes Control

Jeremy Ausmus raised to 325,000 from the hijack seat, and when it folded to Danny Wong in the big blind he reraised to 825,000. Ausmus thought about a minute, then four-bet to 1.625 million. Wong then thought about a minute himself before shoving his hand away.

Small Skirmishes on the Secondary Feature Table

When the table all folded to Robert Salaburu in the small blind he completed, and Jeremy Ausmus checked from next door. Action has slowed of late at the seven-handed secondary feature table. There have been a couple of all-in pushes by Paul Volpe and Steven Gee, though neither were called. Meanwhile, Ausmus has become more involved of late and has been gradually chipping up.

Both players checked the {7-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Salaburu then tossed out 160,000 after the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn, and Ausmus called. The river was the {A-Diamonds} and both checked again. Ausmus turned over {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, and won the small pot.

Cylus Watson Eliminated in 22nd Place ($294,601)

Cylus Watson - 22nd Place
Cylus Watson - 22nd Place

A short-stacked Cylus Watson moved all in preflop for 920,000 and received a call from Greg Merson.

Showdown
Watson: {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Merson: {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Watson got it all in with the best hand, but oftentimes that's not enough. Unfortunately for Watson, that'd be the case in this hand as the {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop delivered Merson a pair of tens and the lead. Neither the {Q-Hearts} turn nor {2-Diamonds} river would help Watson, and he shook hands with the table before taking his leave in 22nd place.

A Few More for Ausmus

Jeremy Ausmus raised to 350,000 from under the gun, and only Robert Salaburu called from the big blind. The flop came {4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Salaburu checked, Ausmus bet 400,000, and Salaburu called. The turn then brought the {2-Clubs} and a bet of 700,000 from Salaburu. Ausmus though about a half-minute, then called.

The river was the {J-Hearts}. This time Salaburu checked quickly, and Ausmus checked behind. Ausmus had {5-}{4-} for fours and deuces, which was good enough and he claimed the pot.

Corcione Chips Up

Michael Esposito opened to 350,000 from under the gun, and the action folded to Robert Corcione, who defended his big blind. The flop produced {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Corcione checked. Esposito continued for 475,000, and Corcione called.

The turn was the {q-Hearts}, and Corcione knuckled again. Espositio fired a second bullet worth 900,000, and Corcione check-raised to 2 million. Esposito released, and Corcione picked up the pot.

"Jesse, Jesse, Jesse"

Greg Merson opened for 235,000 and was called by Jesse Sylvia. David Balkin came along from the big blind, and it was three-way action to the {3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs} flop. Balkin and Merson both checked, opening the door for Sylvia to bet 530,000. Balkin got out of the way, Merson moved all in, and Sylvia snap-called off for 3.415 total.

Showdown

Merson{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Sylvia{A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

Sylvia got his chips in good with aces, but he needed to dodge the straight and flush draws of Merson. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't do it as the {3-Clubs} spiked on the turn. Luckily for him, it was followed by the {3-Hearts} on the river to give Sylvia a full house.

"Jesse, Jesse, Jesse," Sylvia's supporters chanted as he made his way to the rail to celebrate.

"That's what that call a suck, re-suck," announcer Robbie Thompson said over the microphone.

Ausmus Takes from Salaburu

Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Robert Salaburu has been quieter this level, preferring to keep clear of the short stacks' shoving and preserve his chip-leading stack. Just now, though, he opened for 365,000 from the hijack seat, then Jeremy Ausmus reraised to 790,000 from one seat over. It folded back around to Salaburu who made the call.

The flop came {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Salaburu checked, and when Ausmus bet 700,000, Salaburu pushed his hand away.
