Levi Berger Leads the Final 14

If today is anything like the past two, it should be a fun final day of Event #11 $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Six Handed. After ten levels of play yesterday, we turned 122 players into just 14, and at the end of the night, Levi Berger is the big chip leader with 1.42 million, which has everyone else covered by over 500,000 chips.

All of the stars came out for this event, and we still have a few notables still in the running for this event. Tuan Le has won many tournaments in his career, but a bracelet has always eluded him. This could be his best chance yet, as he comes into today second in chips with 873,000. The player in third knows plenty about winning bracelets: Scott Clements. He has won two of them, though his last WSOP win was back in 2007 in a $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. Clements will return with 842,000.

Rounding out the top 5 is Eddy Sabat (694,000) and Jacob Bazeley (638,000). Bracelet winner Cliff Goldkind sits in 9th place (318,000), and Mickey Petersen is at the bottom of the counts with 145,000. Petersen is one of the most experienced players of the final day, so don’t count him out despite his short stack.

Day 3 is set to commence at 1 PM local time, and we are looking to crown another bracelet winner today. Once we get to the final table, Pokernews.com will be bringing you all of the action, hand-for-hand. You won’t want to miss that, so don’t go anywhere!

Tamara Tibbles Eliminated in 14th Place ($17,567)

Level 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Tamara Tibbles- 14th Place
Tamara Tibbles- 14th Place

Action folded to Tamara Tibbles in the cutoff, and she open shipped all in for her last 135,000. Mickey Petersen was next to act, and he moved all in for more. The blinds folded, and Petersen had Tibbles crushed.

Tibbles: {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Petersen: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Tibbles didn't pair the flop, but it was still great for her, coming down {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Tibbled could now catch a heart in addition to the four, but neither one came, as the board completed {7-Spades} and {7-Clubs}. Petersen upped his stack to 600,000, while the last woman standing was eliminated just short of the final two tables.

Peter Turmezey Eliminated in 13th Place ($17,657)

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Peter Turmezey - 13th Place
Peter Turmezey - 13th Place

Peter Turmezey open shoved from the button for his last 185,000, and Scott Clements moved all in from the small blind to isolate.

Clements: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Turmezey: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

It was a classic coin flip, and Clements took a huge lead after the flop came {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Turmezey now needed a deuce to survive, and the turn brought the {a-Spades}. The river might have given Clements a moment of fear, as it was close to a two, but it turned out to be the {3-Diamonds}.

Clements is now up to 1.42 million, and we are current redrawing for the final two tables now.

Gary Pearce Eliminated in 12th Place ($22,786)

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Gary Pearce - 12th Place
Gary Pearce - 12th Place

Gary Pearce had already doubled through Levi Berger once before, and he just tried to do it again after three bet shoving for his last 317,000 with {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} Unfortunately for him, Berger made the call with {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and his pair held, as the board ran down {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

Pearce will take home just over $22,000 for his efforts, while Berger wins his first pot of the day to get back to the chip lead with 1.31 million.

Luke Vrabel Eliminated in 11th Place ($22,786)

Level 22 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Luke Vrabel - 11th Place
Luke Vrabel - 11th Place

Jacob Bazeley made it 24,000 to go from under the gun, and Mickey Petersen three bet it to 61,000 from the hijack. On the button, Ben Palmer moved all in for his final 374,000, and Luke Vrabel tanked in the big blind. Eventually, he called off the rest of his stack, roughly 230,000, and Bazeley and Petersen both folded.

Palmer: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Vrabel: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Vrabel had woken up with a huge hand in the big blind, but it was bad luck for him, as Palmer had the rockets. Vrabel was never able to get much of a chance built up, as the board ran down {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. After that pot, Palmer is over 700,000.

Tuan Le Eliminated in 10th Place ($30,165)

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tuan Le - 10th Place
Tuan Le - 10th Place

Tuan Le had high hopes of winning the second leg of the triple crown today, as he came into play second in chips. However, he fell down to average after doubling two opponents up early, and he has just been eliminated by Eddy Sabat in brutal fashion.

Sabat open limped from the cutoff, as did Levi Berger from the button. Le made it 43,000 to go in the small blind, and when it got to Sabat, he tried the old limp reraise play, with a raise to 150,000. Berger quickly folded, and after a few moments of though, Le moved all in for his final 416,000. Sabat asked for a count, and though he didn't look thrilled about it, he slid the call in.

Sabat: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Le: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Le was well out in front, and it stayed that way on the {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The {2-Spades} came on the turn, and Le looked like he would surely double up. Well, you read the title of the post, so you know what's coming next.

River: {7-Hearts}

The whole table, including Sabat, let out a big groan at the site of the brutal river beat, and a shocked Le could only shake his head in disbelief as he headed towards the rail. After taking that huge pot, Sabat is now our chip leader with 1.36 million.

Mickey Petersen Eliminated in 9th Place ($30,165)

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Mickey Petersen  - 9th Place
Mickey Petersen - 9th Place

Mickey Peteresen made it 32,000 to go from under the gun, and action folded to Ben Palmer on the button. He thought for about 45 seconds before cutting out raising chips, and put 70,000 in the middle. It got back around to Petersen, and he rechecked his hole cards, thought for about 20 seconds, and moved all in for his last 350,000. Palmer didn't take long to call, and when Petersen saw his hand, he said "you're good."

Petersen: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Palmer: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The board ran down {4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and since no player had a club, Palmer's kicker took down the pot. Peterson will take home over $30,00 for his efforts, while Palmer has upped his stack to just over a million.

Marcio Cid Eliminated in 8th Place ($41,011)

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Marcio Cid
Marcio Cid

Scott Clements made it 42,000 from the button, and it folded to Marcio Cid in the big blind. He moved all in for his last 680,000, and it didn't take Clements long to call, setting up a huge pot of almost 1.4 million.

Clements: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Cid: {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The flop sure brought some excitement, coming all diamonds: {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Both players had a diamond, but Cid was the one who picked up the extra outs, as he had the ace of diamonds. Unfortunately for Cid, the board completed with two nines, the {9-Hearts} and {9-Clubs}, giving Clements the KO and the chip lead and sending us to our unofficial final table.

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Clifford Goldkind - 7th Place
Clifford Goldkind - 7th Place

The unofficial final table lasted just one hand.

Hand #1: Action folded to Clifford Goldkind in the small blind and he raised to 40,000. Scott Clements three-bet to 101,000 from the big blind, Goldkind four-bet to 265,000, and Clements five-bet shoved for about 885,000 effective. Goldkind called all in.

Goldkind: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Clements: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} to give Goldkind a flush draw, but it never came as the {6-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river secured the pot for Clements.

Hand #5: Levi Berger raised to 40,000 in the hijack and David Gonia three-bet all in for 396,000 from the button. The blinds folded, Berger called, and the hands were tabled.

Berger: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Gonia: {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, giving Berger Broadway to score the elimiation.
