Wright Chipping Up

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Before the break, we caught a hand between Mickey Doft and Larry Wright.

Mickey Doft: {x-}{x-}{x-} / {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Larry Wright: {9-}{6-}{3-} / {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Larry Wright completed showing the {8-Clubs}, and Mickey Doft raised with the {a-Hearts}. Doft bet out on fourth street, fifth street, and sixth street, and Wright called each time. On the river, Doft checked, then called Wright's bet. Wright revealed a ninety-eight, and Doft mucked.

Pescatori Enters Late; Winning Already

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

We walked by the table to see Max Pescatori already involved in a hand after registering late here in Event #33.

There was a bet and a call on fifth street and on sixth street Pescatori bet with his board showing {x-}{x-}/{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. His opponent had picked up a pair of deuces with his board reading {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and one bet was all that it took for him to fold.

With that pot Pescatori is already up above starting stack as he looks to get more chips here on day one.

The Right Checks for Micon

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante
Bryan Micon
Bryan Micon

With his board reading {x-}{x-}/{5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{a-Spades} Bryan Micon was in a pot with one opponent who was showing {x-}{x-}/{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Sixth street came the {6-Diamonds} for Micon and the {4-Spades} for his opponent and both players checked again. Seventh street was dealt face down and both players checked again.

"Eight," Micon's opponent said showing {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for his down cards.

"It's good," Micon said, mucking his hand. Even with the right checks, Micon is still down a bit from starting stack, but with the levels getting higher that could change any moment.

Woods Rebuilding

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

James Woods had taken a few smalls hits to his stack, but was starting to rebuild when we last saw him. We came to his table as he was raking in chips from a win, and then in the very next hand, Woods completed with the {3-Hearts}. Only one opponent called, showing {2-Hearts}. Woods bet out on fourth street, and his opponent called, and then the dealer pitched fifth street:

Woods: {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

Woods bet again, and his opponent folded after pairing his seven. It was two pots in a row for Woods, who was back up to 5,500 in chips.

What's a Keg Stand?

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante
Bill Chen in an earlier stud event.
Bill Chen in an earlier stud event.

Bill Chen is on the uptick here in Event #33. We just saw him take a relatively big pot here in level three, putting him close to the two-times starting stack mark.

With a board of {x-}{x-}/{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades} Chen bet into his opponent who called him with {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

Both players checked on the face down seventh street.

"Nine, eight, six, three, ace," Chen said announcing his hand showing the {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} under.

His opponent showed {A-}{3-}{X-} for the losing jack low and Chen scooped the pot.

Meanwhile at the table Ben Yu and Shannon Shorr are having a good time probing Chen about his college life and high school years.

"I believe that you haven't done a keg stand before, but I don't buy that you don't know what one is," Yu said to Chen.

"I was on the badminton team," Chen explained.

We'll keep you updated on anymore interesting tidbits and hands from one of the more lively tables in the room.
