The 2013 World Series of Poker Event #33: $2,500 Seven-Card Razz began two days ago with 301 runners, and today 131 of them returned to the Amazon Room inside the Rio All-Suite Casino to battle it out over ten one-hour levels. After a day full of Razz action (click here for the rules to Razz), just 14 players remain in contention for the $178,052 first-place prize. The man best position to make a run at it is chip leader David Bach, who bagged up 303,000.

Only 32 spots were slated to get paid, which meant 99 players would leave empty handed. Among them were Jason Mercier, Allen Kessler, Chris "Fox" Wallace, John Hennigan, Tom Schneider, Justin Bonomo, Perry Friedman, Scott Clements and defending champ Phil Hellmuth.

With 33 players remaining, just one more had to go before the the money was reached. Surprisingly that man accomplished Razz player Calvin Anderson, who earned the infamous title of bubble boy. From there, the in-the-money eliminations came at a rapid pace and included Jerry Case (32nd - $4,759), Stephen Chidwick (31st - $4,759), Matt Vengrin (30th - $4,759), Huck Seed (28th - $4,759), Archie Karas (26th - $4,759), Billy Baxter (24th - $5,752), Max Pescatori (22nd - $5,752), Esther Taylor (20th - $5,752), Steve Diano (18th - $5,752) and Scott Epstein (15th - $6,950).

While many fell there are still some recognizable names in contention including Ivan Schertzer (262,000), Brent Keller (188,500), Randy Ohel (175,000), Frankie O'Dell (155,000), Ismael Bojang (142,000), Bryan Campanello (137,500) and Tommy Chen (61,000).

The third and final day of the 2013 WSOP's only Razz tournament will kick off at 14:00 PST on Thursday. Join us then as we bring you all the action and eliminations on our way to crowing a champion.

Scott Epstein - 15th Place.

Scott Epstein got the last of his chips in on fourth with {5-}{2-}{6-}{q-} against the {a-}{8-}{5-}{7-} of Adam Szalay. Szalay picked up a deuce on sixth to make an eight-seven, and Epstein failed to improve to a hand that could beat it. Epstein, who had a brief stint as the chipleader earlier today, went busto in 15th.

Stuart Rutter got the last of his very short stack on the first round against Sebastian Pauli and Joel Alpert.

Alpert: {2-}{4-}{7-}
Pauli: {5-}{q-}{j-}
Rutter: {a-}{2-}{10-}

Alpert forced Pauli to fold with a bet on fifth, and he revealed {7-}{5-} in the hole. He picked up and eight on the next street to make an eight-seven, and Rutter couldn't beat it after all the cards were out.

Esther Taylor raised with an {a-} after Brent Keller completed from her left. Everyone else folded, and the two got enough raises in to put the last of Taylor's chips in.

Taylor: {a-}{4-}{5-}
Keller: {6-}{7-}{8-}

After all the cards were out, Taylor had double-paired her four and five, and was left with only a jack-low. Keller made a nine-eight, which eliminated Taylor in 20th.

Diano Pulls Huge Bluff; Pescatori Out

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 700 ante
Steve Diano
Steve Diano

In one of the last hands before break, Steve Diano, Adam Szalay and Stuart Rutter all made it to seventh street in a large pot. Szalay, who had taken the lead on an earlier street and bet a jack-high board against Rutter's queen-high and Diano's {5-}{5-}{a-}{a-}, checked the end. Diano pondered briefly, counting his chips, before firing out a bet, leaving himself less than a big bet remaining. Rutter folded without much thought and Szalay went into the tank.

"You have a wheel?" he asked Diano.

"I'll show you," Diano offered.

Szalay agonized over the decision for a few minutes, rubbing his head and apologizing to his tablemates. "You'll show if I fold?" he finally asked.

"I already said I would show," Diano responded. Szalay folded.

"Aces full," Diano said, turning over {a-}{8-}{6-}. "Now that's how you play Razz."

Meanwhile, Max Pescatori busted out at one of the other tables in a hand we didn't catch. He finished 22nd.

Seed Out; Butzhammer Triples

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 700 ante
Huck Seed busted shortly after the bubble.
Huck Seed busted shortly after the bubble.

After Torstein Iversen busted 29th, Archie Karas called the bring-in with {4-}, Huck Seed moved in for his last 1,700 with {a-}, and Thomas Butzhammer raised to 3,000 with {4-}. Steve Diano called with {9-}, as did Karas.

Butzhammer then bet it down until he was all in on sixth, with Karas and Diano calling him in the side pot until Diano folded on sixth.

Karas: {4-}{10-}{5-}{5-}
Seed: {a-}{k-}{q-}{2-}
Butzhammer: {4-}{5-}{9-}{3-}
Diano: {9-}{8-}{7-}{9-}

Butzhammer turned over {6-}{2-} for a six-low. Seed had {7-}{5-} and Karas had {7-}{2-}, so they were both drawing dead since they couldn't make better than sevens. Butzhammer scooped both the main and side pots, and Seed was eliminated in 28th.

Bojang Busts Vengrin

Matt Vengrin

Ismael Bojang: {x-}{x-} / {6-}{9-}{5-}{3-} / {x-}
Esther Taylor: {x-}{x-} / {5-}{3-}{10-}{8-} / {x-}
Matt Vengrin: {x-}{x-} / {2-}{3-}{8-}{k-} / {x-}

After Ismael Bojang completed and Esther Taylor called, a short-stacked Matt Vengrin called off for 2,800. Bojang proceeded to check-call a bet on fourth before both he and Taylor checked fifth. When Bojang took the lead on sixth, he fired out a bet and Taylor called. The action repeated itself on the river and Bojang tabled {a-}{4-}{9-} for a 6-5-4-3-A low. Taylor mucked while Vengrin revealed {4-}{5-}{9-} for an inferior 8-5-4-3-2 low.

Vengrin was eliminated in 30th place and will take home $4,759 for his deep run.

Calvin Anderson was the unfortunate bubble victim.
Calvin Anderson was the unfortunate bubble victim.

After anteing, Calvin Anderson was all in for his last 100 when Frankie O'Dell completed in front of him. Everyone else folded. The dealer ran the boards out:

Anderson: {j-}{10-}{4-}{j-}{7-}{a-}{6-}
O'Dell: {6-}{5-}{7-}{9-}{a-}{10-}{4-}

Anderson was already out of his seat before the last card, as he was drawing dead.

"Tu...Pac?"

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Max Pescatori is behind the times regarding American hip-hop.
Max Pescatori is behind the times regarding American hip-hop.

The players at Table 363 are in disbelief, as Max Pescatori has apparently never heard of Tupac or Biggie Smalls.

"Tu...Pac?" he asked. "Give me a song."

"I love it when you call me big pop-pa," Esther Taylor said, singing one of Biggie's more famous lines.

Nikolai Yakovenko suggested he look up "Changes" and "I Ain't Mad At Cha."

"That's literally impossible," Taylor said. "Unless you've been living in a cave."

"He's from Italy, and they have a lot of caves there," Yakovenko quipped.
