Straight for Bonkowski

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Kenny Shei raised preflop, and Michael Moore called from directly to his left. Tyler Bonkowski then called from the small blind, and the big blind also called. The players saw the flop four-handed, and the dealer spread {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The blinds both checked, and Shei bet out. Moore then raised, Bonkowski called the two bets, and the big blind folded. Shei called the raise, and the dealer turned the {j-Diamonds}. Moore bet after Shei checked, and Bonkowski made it two bets. Shei folded, and Moore called. Moore then check-called the {4-Clubs} on the river, and Bonkowski showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a turned straight. Moore mucked his cards.

After the river betting, Bonkowski was down to about 1,000 in chips, but after the pot was pushed to him his stack was up to 17,000. Moore, meanwhile, is down to 42,500.

Mercier Doubles Again

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

We caught the action with around 7,000 in the pot and a board reading {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Jason Mercier had bet 1,200 from middle position and Gabriel Nassif took his time before raising to 2,400 from the button. Mercier made it 3,600 to go, leaving himself just 800 behind, and then called off when Nassif four-bet it.

Mercier: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Nassif: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

"That's what I figured," Nassif said when Mercier rolled over pocket rockets. Nassif could still win with a king, but that didn't happen as the {6-Hearts} blanked on the river. With that, Mercier has nearly three times as man chips as he started the day with.

Kenney vs. Benson

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Action folded to Bryn Kenney in the hijack and he raised to 1,600. Three more folds put action on WSOP bracelet winner Gary Benson and he opted to defend from the big blind. Both players proceeded to check the {8-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop and then Benson led out for 1,600 on the {Q-Spades} turn. Not to be deterred, Kenney popped it to 3,200 and took down the pot when his Australian foe released his hand.

Flopped Straight for Sokoloff

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Bruno Fitoussi opened the preflop action with a raise under the gun. Then Paul Sokoloff re-raised and Harrison Wilder four-bet. Fitoussi folded and Sokoloff called. The flop was {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and Sokoloff check-called Wilder's bet. The turn was the {q-Hearts}, and Wilder again bet after Sokoloff checked. This time Sokoloff raised. Wilder called, and the {2-Diamonds} hit the felt for the river. Sokoloff bet out, and Wilder called. Sokoloff turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a flopped straight. Wilder mucked, and Sokoloff took the pot.

Kenney vs. Benson, Round 2

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Three players saw a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Bill Chen checked, then Bryn Kenney bet and Gary Benson raised. Chen folded and Kenney called. Kenney check-called Benson's bet when the {q-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and then both players check the {k-Spades} on the river.

Kenney turned over {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for an unimproved pocket pair, and Benson showed {7-}{7-} before sliding his cards toward the much. Kenney's pair of eights were just enough to win the pot, and he's now up to 35,000.

Ivey Clinging On

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Phil Ivey has done nothing but decline here on Day 2, but he just won a pot that has him headed back in the right direction.

It happened when Bill Chen opened for 1,600 from early position and action folded to Ivey, who called from the big blind. Ivey had just 1,700 behind, and it went in after he checked the {6-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop and Chen bet.

"You have a set?" Ivey asked halfheartedly. Chen responded in the negative and explained he felt compelled to call with the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Ivey tabled the {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for bottom pair and the lead. The {7-Spades} turn was safe for the nine-time bracelet winner, and the {K-Diamonds} river gave him a much-needed double.

Shulman Doubles with a Monster

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Paul Sokoloff raised under the gun, and a short-stacked Shulman three-bet. Action folded back around to Sokoloff, who asked how much Shulman had behind. Shulman told him he started the hand with 4,200. Sokoloff and Shulman then raised until Shulman was all in, and the players turned up their cards.

Shulman: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Sokoloff: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Shulman was in dominating position with his aces, and he was in even better shape after the flop came {5-Clubs}{a-Spades}{j-Spades}. The turn sealed Shulman's victory with a {4-Diamonds}, and the {j-Spades} on the river unnecessarily improved Shulman's hand to a full house.

After more than doubling up, Shulman sits with 10,800 in chips.
