Johnson Doubles

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Linda Johnson - Poker Hall of Famer
Linda Johnson - Poker Hall of Famer

Joseph Hertzog: {x-}{x-} / {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Spades} / {x-}
Tianxiong Fu: {x-}{x-} / {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} / {x-}
Linda Johnson: {x-}{x-} / {6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} / {x-}

Johnson, a member of the Poker Hall of Fame, was all in for 8,600 on third street when we arrived at the table. Hertzog and Fu battle for the side pot on the ensuing streets, as Fu called a bet on fourth then check-called three more on fifth, sixth, and seventh.

Hertzog showed {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for just a pair of aces, and Fu scooped the side pot with {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a straight and a low, and Johnson took down half of the main pot with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for a flush.

Hellmuth and Leah Chop Idema; On the Money Bubble

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} / {x-}
Mike Leah: {x-}{x-} / {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs} / {x-}
Daniel Idema: {x-}{x-} / {a-Clubs}{x-}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs} / {x-}

Leah brought it in, Idema completed, and both Hellmuth and Leah called. Leah checked on fourth, Idema bet, and both Leah and Hellmuth called again. The same action occurred on fifth, although Hellmuth called the hand "tricky" before he called, and on sixth, Leah made kings up.

Thinking that Leah checked, Idema fired out a bet. He then realized his error, pulled his chips back, then tossed them out again when Leah actually checked. Hellmuth called while laughing, Leah check-raised, and Idema called. Hellmuth then raised, Leah re-raised, Idema tank-folded, and Hellmuth capped the action. Leah called.

Leah check-called a bet on seventh, and the hands were opened.

Leah: {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Hellmuth: {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

The two chopped the pot, and we are now on the exact money bubble.

Mercier Swings Back Up

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Opponent: {x-}{x-} / {8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} / {x-}
Jason Mercier: {x-}{x-} / {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{j-Spades} / {x-}

After swinging downward heading into the second break, Mercier's opponent check-called bets on fourth and fifth street, and both players checked on sixth. Mercier led out for a bet on seventh, the player called, and Mercier turned over {k-Spades}{3-Spades}{x-} for a flush.

His opponent mucked, and Mercier picked up the pot to push his stack back over 60,000.

Ivey Busts

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey: {x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} / {x-}
Michael Kovar: {x-}{x-} / {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds} / {x-}

We caught the action on fourth street, where Kovar check-called a bet from Ivey. Kovar led out on fifth, Ivey called, and Ivey called all-in for 1,400 on sixth.

Ivey: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Kovar: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Kovar had the wheel, and could make a diamond flush on seventh, but bricked when he flipped over the {5-Hearts}. Ivey could split the pot with a club, but was eliminated when he turned over the {3-Hearts}.

Kovar now has 68,000 chips.
