Shaun Sunk in 26th

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shortly after Freddy Deeb's departure, it was Shaun Deeb getting involved in a hand with Joseph Leung that saw them reach a {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop. Leung checked from the small blind, Deeb bet 19,000, Leung check-raised to 88,500, Deeb pushed all in, and Leung called with the 205,000 total he had.

Deeb had {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades} for top-and-bottom two pair while Leung {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a set of nines. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and river the {9-Spades}, and Leung ended with quads to knock Deeb back down to less than 40,000.

Leung would claim the rest of Deeb's stack shortly thereafter to send him out in 26th place.

Diamonds for Goldman Mean Double

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

We picked up the action on the flop, with Sorel Mizzi playing from the cutoff and Lee Goldman from the small blind.

The flop had come {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and after Goldman checked, Mizzi bet 17,500. Goldman came back with a raise to 42,000, to which Mizzi responded with a pot-sized reraise and Goldman called all in for 142,000 total.

Goldman: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} — nut flush draw, gutshot straight draw
Mizzi: {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} — top two pair

The turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}, completing Goldman's flush, and after the {3-Hearts} fell on fifth street Goldman had doubled to survive.

Shuchleis Sent Out

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Four players had made it to a {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, at which point Victor Shuchleis bet the pot — about 45,000 — leaving himself just a few chips behind. Steve Gross considered the stacks of everyone else still involved, then reraised to push out the other two players, and Shuchleis called.

Shuchleis had {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Gross {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, so when the {8-Hearts} fell on the turn Gross had made the better flush and the river {7-Clubs} was inconsequential, thus ending Shuchleis's Event #41 run in 25th place.

Kitai Cut Down

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
David Kitai
David Kitai

Yevgeniy Timoshenko raised to 12,000 from under the gun, then Stephen Wolfe called the raise from late position. The action on Davidi Kitai on the button, the Event #19: $5,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em winner reraised all in for 79,000. Timoshenko then reraised all in himself for 90,500, and Wolfe called, having both players covered.

Timoshenko: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Wolfe: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Kitai: {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The board came {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, then {8-Hearts}, then {2-Diamonds}. Kitai had made eights and sevens, but Timoshenko's kings and deuces gave him the best hand and the pot, eliminating the Belgian.

King's Kings Do Him a Double

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Lasell King raised the pot to 21,000, then it folded to Nader Arfai who reraised pot from the big blind and King called all in for 38,000 total.

King had {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Arfai {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The board came {2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, and King's kings and deuces were best, giving him a double.

Two More Hands

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

The tournament director has stopped the clock with 10 minutes left and after drawing a card has announced just two more hands will be played before they stop for the night.

Timoshenko Knocks Out Wolfe in 23rd

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

On the next-to-last hand of the night at Table 347, Stephen Wolfe was all in before the flop versus two opponents, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Steve Gross. The flop came {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, and when Timoshenko bet, Gross stepped aside.

Wolfe had {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and was well behind Timoshenko's {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, and when a {Q-} fell on the turn to fill up Timoshenko the river was no matter, eliminating Wolfe in 23rd.

Lasell King would then double up one more time — again with kings — versus Steve Gross when his {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} held versus Gross's {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades} through a {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} board, and the bags were brought out as play had concluded for the night.
