Julie Schneider Eliminated in 8th Place ($19,952)

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante
Julie Schneider
Julie Schneider

Omaha-8

Julie Schneider was down to her last 9,000, and that went in from the big blind. Matthew Ashton put in a raise, and Kristopher Tong put out two bets. It got back around to Ashton, and he made the call. The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and Ashton checked to Tong, who fired out. Ashton threw out a check raise, and Tong came along to see the {k-Hearts} hit the turn. Ashton led out, and Tong once again called. The river brought the {j-Spades}, and Ashton threw one more bet out. Tong reluctantly folded, and Ashton tabled {5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a full house.

Schneider was drawing very thin, but she could still win the pot. She sweated her cards one at at time. First card: {q-Diamonds}. Second card: {8-Clubs}. Schneider was now drawing virtually dead, and the {9-Diamonds} she revealed for her third card confirmed that.

Schneider will take home just under $20,000 for her efforts, while Ashton is back up to 360,000.

Kristopher Tong({A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}) / {4-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{5-Clubs} / ({5-Hearts})
Mack Lee({7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}) / {2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} / ({4-Hearts})

Picking up the action on fourth street, Kristopher Tong bet and Mack Lee raised. Tong reraised, and Lee made the call. On fifth street, Tong bet and Lee raised all in for a tiny bit more than the bet. Tong called.

When the hands were opened, Tong was ahead with a pair of kings to Lee's pair of twos. The dealer pitched each players the final cards for their hands, and Lee was left with just a pair of twos, which couldn't beat the two pair that Tong had made.

Lee was eliminated in seventh place and took home $25,993 for his finish.

Omaha-8

Matthew Ashton raised from the cutoff seat, Mike Gorodinsky called from the button, and George Fotiadis called from the big blind. On the {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, Fotiadis checked, Ashton bet, Gorodinsky called, and then Fotiadis called all in for 18,000.

With Fotiadis all in, there was a side pot of 14,000 between Ashton and Gorodinsky. The turn was the {10-Hearts}, and Ashton bet. Gorodinsky called.

The river was the {7-Clubs}, and Ashton checked. Gorodinsky bet, and Ashton called.

The side pot was first, and both Ashton and Gorodinsky chopped it up. Ashton showed the {Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} for deuce-three low. Gorodinsky showed the {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a straight to the seven.

Matthew Ashton
Matthew Ashton

Kristopher Tong raised from the button, and Matthew Ashton put in a reraise from the small blind. Tong called, and the dealer fanned out a flop of {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Ashton bet out, and Tong made the call. The turn brought the {10-Hearts}, and the two players got in a raising war that saw all of Ashton's chips get in the middle.

Tong: {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Ashton: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}

Tong had caught an inside straight draw to get the better of Ashton, who was looking for a jack and a jack only to survive. Unfortuantely for him, the river was the {5-Spades}, knocking the Brit out in third place, and getting us to our heads up battle!

Kristopher Tong was down to just three big bets when the two got the money in on fourth street. The dealer sent the cards out like rapid fire, and when Gorodinsky caught the straight on sixth street, Tong was drawing dead. Neither player revealed their final down card.

Tong held the chip lead when we started heads up, but he will have to simply wonder what could have been, as he bows out in 2nd place.
