Aces and Eights for Fotiadis

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Omaha-8

From under the gun plus one, George Fotiadis raised. Matthew Ashton was the only caller out of the big blind, and the dealer spread the {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop before action proceeded. On the flop, Ashton checked, Fotiadis bet, and Ashton called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, and both players checked to see the {2-Spades} land on the river. Ashton led with a bet, and Fotiadis made the call.

Ashton tabled the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for two pair, jacks and eights. Fotiadis showed the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a better two pair, aces and eights, and he won the pot.

One for Lakhov

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Omaha-8

From the hijack seat, Mike Gorodinsky raised. George Danzer called from the small blind, and Alexander Lakhov called from the big blind. The three players then saw the flop come down {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} and action checked around to see the {K-Clubs} land on the turn. Following a check from Danzer, Lakhov bet. Gorodinsky and Danzer both folded, and Lakhov won the pot.

Ahmed Continues to Rise

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Omaha-8

We caught up with the action on the flop, which came down {4-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Owais Ahmed and Daniel Negreanu were heads up, and Ahmed check called a bet from Negreanu. The {3-Diamonds} hit the turn, and Ahmed checked again, prompting another bet from Negreanu. This time, Ahmed check raised, causing Negreanu to sit back in his chair. He eventually tossed in the call, and Ahmed bet again when the {a-Diamonds} hit the river. Negreanu once again looked pained by the decision, and eventually, he tossed his cards towards the dealer.

Negreanu dropped to 105,000 after that hand, while Ahmed is now third in chips with 334,000.
