Lull in the Action

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

With Owais Ahmed and George Fotiadis pretty short in chips, it seems the other three players are more waiting for one or both of them to bust before really getting involved. That said, there has been a decent lull in the action on the table and not much has happened in terms of pots.

Tong Pushes Ashton Out

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Stud-8

Ashman: {x-}{x-} / {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} FOLD
Tong: {x-}{x-} / {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Matthew Ashton completed, and Kristopher Tong quickly put out a raise. Ashton made the call, and Tong quickly bet again on fourth street. Ashton called, and yet again, Tong took hardly anytime to bet on fifth. Ashton seemed to take the hint, as he checked his hole cards, tanked for a bit, then released, giving the hand to Tong.

These two are currently battling for second in chips, and Tong has the slight edge at the moment.

Ahmed Wins Short Stack Battle

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Stud-8

Ahmed: {x-}{x-} / {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Fotiadis: {x-}{x-} / {5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Owais Ahmed brought in, and it folded around to Fotiadis, who completed. Ahmed then put in a reraise, and Fotiadis called. Ahmed bet again on fourth street, and Fotiadis folded, taking the small, but very crucial pot between the two severe short stacks.

George Fotiadis Eliminated in 5th Place ($46,048)

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
George Fotiadis -- 5th Place
George Fotiadis -- 5th Place

Omaha-8

Matthew Ashton raised from the cutoff seat, Mike Gorodinsky called from the button, and George Fotiadis called from the big blind. On the {J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, Fotiadis checked, Ashton bet, Gorodinsky called, and then Fotiadis called all in for 18,000.

With Fotiadis all in, there was a side pot of 14,000 between Ashton and Gorodinsky. The turn was the {10-Hearts}, and Ashton bet. Gorodinsky called.

The river was the {7-Clubs}, and Ashton checked. Gorodinsky bet, and Ashton called.

The side pot was first, and both Ashton and Gorodinsky chopped it up. Ashton showed the {Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} for deuce-three low. Gorodinsky showed the {K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a straight to the seven.

For the main pot, Fotiadis could beat neither of these hands and was eliminated in fifth place. He earned $46,048.

Tong Takes Huge Pot from Gorodinsky

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Omaha-8

Mike Gorodinsky has been either first or second for the entirety of this final table, but he has just lost a handful of pots that have seen his stack dwindle down to just over half a million.

Mike Gorodinsky started the action by raising, and Christopher Tong reraised from the button. The blinds, and Gorodinsky called to send us to a flop of {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Both players checked, and the turn brought the {2-Hearts}. Gorodinsky check called a bet from Tong, and the {k-Diamonds} hit the river. Gorodinsky checked, and Tong fired out again. Gorodinsky went into the tank, and eventually found a call, though he didn't look thrilled about it.

Tong tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} for trip kings, and Gorodinsky dropped his cards in front of the dealer. After that pot, Tong is our new big chip leader, with 1.25 million.

Owais Ahmed Eliminated in 4th Place ($62,631)

Owais Ahmed -- 4th Place
Owais Ahmed -- 4th Place

Stud-8

Owais Ahmed({A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}) / {K-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} / ({10-Diamonds})
Kristopher Tong({Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}) / {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts} / ({8-Hearts})

Kristopher Tong brought in, Owais Ahmed completed, and then Tong raised. Ahmed made the call. On fourth, fifth and sixth street, Ahmed called bets from Tong. It was on sixth street that Ahmed made his final call to put all of his chips in the middle. When the hands were opened, Ahmed had a pair of sevens and was behind the two pair for Tong.

Ahmed failed to improve on the river, meaning the 2011 winner of this event would have to settled for a fourth-place finish worth $62,631.

Tong Extends Chip Lead

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Stud-8

Tong: {x-}{x-} / {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} / {x-}
Gorodinsky: {x-}{x-} / {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} / {x-}

Kristopher Tong brought in with the nine, and Gorodinsky completed with the jack. Tong made the call, and he proceeded to call another bet on fourth street. The two players both knuckled on fifth and sixth street, and on seventh, Tong fired out. Gorodinsky peaked down at his hole cards a few times before sending them to the dealer, dropping him to 500,000 in the process.

Meanwhile, Tong is starting to distance himself from the other two, sitting on 1.6 million, which is over half the chips in play.

From the button, Mike Gorodinsky raised. Both Kristopher Tong in the small blind and Matthew Ashton in the big blind made the call, and the dealer produced a {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. On the flop, Tong checked, Ashton bet, Gorodinsky called, then Tong called.

The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and Tong checked. Ashton also checked, and Gorodinsky fired a bet. Tong called, and Ashton called.

The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Tong and Ashton both checked. Gorodinsky bet, Tong called, and Ashton called.

Gorodinsky showed the {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a flush and a seven-six low. Tong and Ashton mucked, giving Gorodinsky the pot.

Tong Rivers Wheel to Get it Back

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante

Omaha-8

Just a couple of hands ago Mike Gorodinsky won a huge pot to get back up to a million, but Kristopher Tong has just fired back, taking a huge pot of his own. We caught up with the action on the turn, with the board showing {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}. Tong bet the turn, and Gorodinsky called.

The river brought the {4-Hearts}, and Tong fired out again. As soon as Tong dropped his chips, Gorodinsky snapped the chips he had in his hand in a frustrated manner. He tanked for at least a minute before begrudgingly putting the chips in, and Tong showed {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for a rivered wheel. Gorodinsky shook his head, and mucked his hand, dropping him to 700,000, while Tong is back up to 1.45 million.
