Chris Tryba Eliminated in 10th Place ($16,118)

Level 22
Chris Tryba - 10th Place.
Chris Tryba - 10th Place.

Stud Eight or Better

Chris Tryba, Michael Malm and Travis Pearson each put three bets in on fifth street, leaving Tryba all in. Malm bet sixth into a small side pot, and Pearson called. If there was seventh street action, we didn't catch it.

Tryba: {3-}{5-}/{a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}/{x-}
Malm: {9-}{9-}{x-}/{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Pearson: {x-}{x-}{x-}/{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Malm had Pearson beat for the side pot with kings up, and Tryba quickly realized he had outs to scoop the whole pot: an ace, a deuce or a four. Any low would give him half the pot. He squeezed out his final card, then tossed a {j-Diamonds} high into the air.

We'll have an updated count on Malm shortly.

Travis Pearson Eliminated in 9th Place ($16,118)

No-Limit Hold'em

Steven Wolansky opened to 18,000 from the hijack and Eric Crain cut out a three-bet to 35,000 from the next seat over. It folded to Travis Pearson in the small blind and he announced a four-bet all in for 135,000. Wolansky tanked for about a minute before folding. Crain called and the hands were tabled:

Crain: {A-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Pearson: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Pearson seized a tight grip on the hand when he flopped a set on the {5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop.

"Jacks are live!" someone chimed from the other end of the table.

Just like that the {J-Hearts} struck the turn, giving Crain Broadway and the lead. The {3-Clubs} bricked out for Pearson on the river and Crain was able to score the elimination.

"I folded pocket jacks," said a stunned Wolansky after the hand. The rest of the table gasped at this admission.

With Pearson's elimination, we are officially at our final table!

Marco Johnson Eliminated in 8th Place ($20,669)

No-Limit Hold'em

Greg Mueller opened to 13,500 from under the gun. Marco Johnson shipped for 74,500 more from the small blind, and the big blind folded. Mueller went into the tank, saying he had a good hand but didn't want Johnson to feel slowrolled. Finally, he called.

Mueller: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Johnson: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"Not what I wanted to see," Mueller said.

The {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} was exactly what he wanted to see, however. A {4-Clubs} turn meant Johnson needed a king or a jack to survive. The river was the {7-Clubs}, however, and Johnson was finished.

Mike Wattel Eliminated in 7th Place ($26,966)

Mike Wattel

Omaha Eight or Better

Greg Mueller raised from under the gun, and Mike Wattel called from the big blind.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and Wattel check-raised the last of his chips.

Wattel: {2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Mueller: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Mueller had the superior low draw, but Wattel's threes led for high. A {k-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Wattel was in decent shape to survive. An {a-Hearts} river gave Mueller both the high and the low though, and Wattel hit the rail.

Dario Alioto - 6th Place

Omaha Eight-or-Better

Eric Crain opened from UTG+1 with a raise and it folded around to Dario Alioto who called out of the small blind. The flop came {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Alioto checked. Crain continued and Alioto slid out a check-raise. Crain three-bet and Alioto came back with a four-bet. Crain capped it and Alioto called.

The {A-Spades} turned and Alioto moved all in with his last bet. Crain called.

Crain: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Alioto: {A-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

The river bricked out for Alioto and Crain's wheel was enough to scoop the pot. Alioto was eliminated in 6th place and will collect $35,634 in winnings.

Limit Hold'em

Steven Wolansky had the button. He raised the action and it folded to Michael Hurey in the big blind who three-bet. Wolsansky announced four bets and Hurey five bet all in.

"Call. Aces," remarked Wolansky, tabling {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

Hurey meekly showed {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and was in extreme need of help.

Unfortunately for Hurey the board failed to oblige as it fell {5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{J-Spades}. He was eliminated in 5th place and will take home $47,771 in winnings.

No-Limit Hold'em

Steven Wolansky was first to act and opened to 24,000. Eric Crain three-bet to 68,000 from the button and it folded around to Michael Malm who went into the tank. Eventually he opted to flat call. Wolansky stuck around too.

The trio took in a flop of {8-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Malm snap-shipped all in for 59,000. Wolansky called and Crain did the same. Both players checked down the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {A-Clubs} river.

Wolansky showed {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} but was bested by Crain's {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. The best hand, however, was held by Malm who had {Q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for two pair of queens and jacks. Malm was able to triple to about 385,000.

Eric Crain opened with a raise from under the gun and Steven Wolansky three-bet out of the big blind. Crain four-bet from the button and Wolansky capped it, putting Crain all in. Crain called and the hands were tabled.

Crain: {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Wolansky: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} and Wolansky was able to win the pot with his pair of kings. Crain, who finished Day 1 of this event as the chip lead and has been a force throughout this whole tournament, has been eliminated from play. Crain will take home $64,975 in tournament winnings.

Limit Hold'em

Action folded to Steven Wolansky who raised from the small blind. Greg Mueller called out of the big blind and the flop brought {3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Wolansky led out and Mueller raised. Wolansky called to see a turn.

The {9-Clubs} hit the turn and Wolansky checked. Mueller led.

"Raise," instantly proclaimed Wolansky.

Mueller, who had less than one big bet behind, called it off.

"You hit the nine, didn't you?" said Mueller. Wolansky nodded and showed {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. A frustrated Mueller replied with {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights.

The {Q-Diamonds} finished off the board and Mueller, last year's runner-up, was eliminated in 3rd place. He will collect $89,673 in tournament winnings.

No-Limit Hold'em

Steven Wolansky had the button. He popped it up to 48,000. Michael Malm three-bet to 124,000 and Wolanski called.

The flop brought {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Malm continued out for 100,000. Wolansky thought for a moment before announcing all in. Malm stood up from the table and slapped {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} face up on the table, announcing call in the process.

"Wow," said Wolansky, meekly showing {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

The dealer rapped the table and produced the {a-Clubs} on the turn.

"CLUB!" said Wolansky suddenly.

Fortunately for Malm, Wolansky's request was denied as the {2-Hearts} touched down on the river and secured him a double up to 1.872 million in chips.
