Once Upon a Pot

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Greg Merson limped from under the gun and so did Brandon Shack-Harris one seat over. Loren Klein limped the button and John O'Shea filled up in the small blind before Matthew Ryan raised it up to 36,000. Only Merson called but then folded when Ryan fired 90,000 on the {Q-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop. Peter Charalambous suggested that Ryan should have shown kings.

Somerville Crippled

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Jason Somerville took a big hit.
Jason Somerville took a big hit.

Action folded to Robert Paddock in the small blind, and he raised to 13,000. Jason Somerville potted to 39,000, and Paddock made the call. After the {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop, Paddock pushed all in for about 40,000, and Somerville called.

"I have aces," Somerville said.

"I have live cards," Paddock replied.

Paddock: {k-}{j-}{10-}{8-}
Somerville: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The {q-Clubs} turn gave Paddock a straight, and Somerville was drawing dead.

Jason Somerville Eliminated in 18th, Yves Kupfermunz in 17th Place ($7,553)

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Yves Kupfermunz raised to 15,000 and Robert Paddock called on the cutoff. One seat over, Jason Somerville moved all in for 25,000 and the blinds folded, both other active opponents called. On the {6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, the fireworks started. Kupfermunz potted for 84,000 and after some consideration and getting the count for the chips behind (53,000), Paddock announced all in. "Alright," Kuofermunz said and pushed the stack forward.

Three way showdown:

Somerville: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Kupfermunz: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Paddock: {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

The {5-Spades} turn gave Paddock the lead with a straight and the {Q-Hearts} river meant that we would lose two players. Somerville and Kupfermunz both take home $7,553.

Andrew Paterson Eliminated in 16th Place ($7,553)

Andrew Paterson - 16th Place
Andrew Paterson - 16th Place

Robert Paddock fired 30,000 after an {8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop, and Andrew Paterson shipped for 130,000. Paddock called.

Paddock: {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Paterson: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-}{7-}

"I like your hand," Paterson said.

He had good reason to, as the monster draw binked immediately on the {2-Diamonds} turn. The board paired on the river, but the {2-Spades} wasn't what Paterson needed to fill up.

Jorg Perleberg Eliminated In 15th Place ($9,299)

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Jorg Perleberg
Jorg Perleberg

Robert Paddock opened to 13,000 and there was a call from Jorg Perleberg, the small blind and Ioro Yogo checked his option in the big blind. On the {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop, Yogo checked and Paddock made the continuation bet. Perleberg raised pot to 111,000 and only had about 20,000 chips behind. Yogo reraised pot and Paddock quickly folded, Perleberg called.

Perleberg: {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Yogo: {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Second nut flush against nut flush, kind of a deadly setup. The {3-Spades} turn gave Perleberg some outs to survive but the {A-Spades} river was none of them and he has been eliminated.

Klein Pays Off Billirakis

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Loren Klein raised to 18,000 from middle position and was called by only Steve Billirakis, in the cutoff. Klein continuation-bet 21,000 on the {3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, and Billirakis made the call after some deliberation. The {9-Diamonds} turned, and both players checked the three-flush board. A fourth diamond, the {10-Diamonds} completed the community, and Klein checked. Billirakis bet 35,000, and Klein thought for a minute or two before calling.

Billirakis showed {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for a low flush, and Klein quickly mucked.

"Bet the turn and bust me," he said.

Billirakis did not respond.

Chidwick On The Rise

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

We didn't catch the pre flop action but Robert Paddock on the button and Stephen Chidwick in the small blind were still active on the {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop that was checked through. On the {8-Diamonds} turn, Chidwick check-raised to 60,000 and Paddock called to see the {K-Diamonds} river. Chidwick fired what looked like 85,000 and his opponent mucked the cards with the words "nice hand."

On the second table we saw the pre flop raise of Patrick Arena and Brandon Shack-Harris made the call. On the {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop, Shack-Harris check-called 25,000 and then folded after the {8-Hearts} turn when Arena announced pot. He was shown {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.
