Standley Scoops Massive Pot to Knock Out Comel

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Shelby Standley
Shelby Standley

With a huge pot to start the day the player second in chips to begin Level 12 has been eliminated.

Sebastien Comel raised from middle position and Shelby Standley only flatted in the small blind. The {K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop saw Standley bet 4,000, Comel raise to 11,000, and Standley call. The {6-Diamonds} turn brought another bet from Standley, this time just called by Comel.

On the {A-Spades} river, Standley bet 18,000, Comel moved all in, and Standley called. Comel had but {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for busted straight and flush draws, while Standley had a monster with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for a full house. Comel is suddenly out, while Standley has jumped into the chip lead.

Givens Gives Houston a Problem

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Will Givens
Will Givens

Will Givens had been one of the more active players at the tables yesterday opening a lot of pots, and it served him well as he cruised through today 2.

Givens had previously opened and folded to a bigger all-in today, but just now when he opened for 2,600 and Beau Houston, a short stack, said “okay” and moved all in for not much more, Givens made the call and we got to see what he was making these moves with.

Houston tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Givens declared he liked his {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} hand.

The cards then ran out {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}, and Givens picked up a small pot to bust Houston.

Liu Getting Short

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Following a raise from the cutoff to 2,400, Xuan Liu three-bet to 6,300 out of the button, and when it folded back around the player in the cutoff called. The flop came {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Both players checked, the turn brought the {6-Hearts}, the cutoff bet 7,600, and Liu called. The {10-Spades} river completed the board and the cutoff reached for chips once again, making it 12,500 to go.

Once Liu made the call and she was shown {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}, the Canadian mucked and dropped into the short-stacked zone.

Table 440 as Bustout Magnet

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

They have already lost at least four players on Table 440 with Lucas Fridriksson as latest casualty. He was all in preflop with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} versus {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} and the {A-Clubs} appeared on the river to end his tourney run.

Meanwhile current chip leader Shelby Standley and German pro Martin Finger — also at Table 440 — cannot really complain, as they are both up considerably.

Liu Doubles Up

Level 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Xuan Liu opened to 3,200 from early position and Stuart Marshak three-bet to 8,500 from the cutoff. The blinds got out of the way and Liu moved all in for 21,500. Marshak considered his decision for more than two minutes and eventually made the call, tabling the {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Liu was way ahead with the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and stayed that way after the board came {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.
