Yamagishi Gets a Gift

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

According to the table, Kelly Holderread opened to 2,000 from under the gun and Colten Yamagishi three-bet to 4,500. The action folded back to Holderread who made the call. The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and Holderread led out for 5,000. Yamagishi called and the {10-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Holderread tossed in another 5,000 bet and Yamagishi just called again. The river was an {a-} and Holderread bet 10,000 this time. Yamagishi pushed all in and Holderread instantly called for his last 45,000 chips. Yamagishi turned over {k-}{k-} for a full house while Holderread just had {7-}{7-}, thus being eliminated from the tournament.

After both players in the blinds checked the initial raiser bet 2,200. The small blind called, and Mateos contemplated his decision.

Geci Still Down

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Endrit Geci raised to 1,200 from mid-position and was called by Gary Bolden in late position.

They both checked through the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} flop to the {9-Spades} on the turn. Geci bet 1,800 and Bolden called.

The {a-Clubs} came on the river to complete the board on which they both checked. Geci tabled {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for the flopped pair of tens and that was enough to make Bolden muck his hand.

Sinclair Busts; Burden Wins a Big One

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

With a completed board of {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} showing and 9,200 in the middle, Jack Sinclair bet 10,000 and Kevin Calenzo moved all in for only 13,500. Sinclair was pained and had a dry smile on the face. Another player at the table suggested: "new shorts, please." After more than three minutes, Sinclair called with the {K-}{J-Clubs} and Calenzo showed {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the straight to double.

Sinclair busted shortly after and a far bigger pot would play out on the very same table minutes later. The turn showed {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades} and there weren't that many chips in the middle by then, just some 20,000. However, Erik Garmans and Timothy Burden got into a raising war in which the former ended up all all in for 57,000. Burden called after some consideration and showed the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for top set.

"Why did you wait so long?" Garmans asked and wanted to muck his cards. As part of the all in showdown, he had to reveal his {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the {J-Hearts} fell on the river.

"Oh, jack nine would have been a straight," Garmans then nodded and headed to the rail after gathering all his belongings.

Violette Calls the River, Wins Without Showdown

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Cyndy Violette
Cyndy Violette

It folded around to Cyndy Violette on the button and she raised to 1,700. Mark Smith called from the small blind and the player in the big blind called as well.

The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Smith chose to lead out with a bet of 1,600. The big blind folded but Violette called in position.

The turn was the {J-Spades} and Smith bet again. 2,000 was the sizing and the action was back on Violette. She grabbed more than just a call and put in a raise to 6,000. Smith called to see the {7-Clubs} complete the board.

Smith lead out again on the {7-Clubs} river and it was with a sizeable bet of 12,000. Violette called and Smith instantly sent his hand to the muck and Violette took down the pot without having to show her hand.

Volpe Doubles Through Polge

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

The flop read {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and there was around 21,000 in the middle already. Paul Volpe had checked his small blind and Julien Polge bet 5,500 on the button. Volpe considered all his options for a while and decided to raise to 20,000 leaving himself behind with 1,900. Polge looked at the bet and raised to put Volpe all-in and Volpe snap-called.

Paul Volpe: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Julien Polge: {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

Volpe had flopped top pair and also had a flush draw to stay alive against Polge's middle pair.

The rest of the board was completed with the {k-Clubs} on the turn and the {7-Clubs} on the river to not impose any danger to Volpe's double-up.

Super Bluff For Superman

Level 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Jonathan Dwek chose to sport a Thor costume this year
Jonathan Dwek chose to sport a Thor costume this year

Jonathan Dwek opened from middle position with a raise to 1,600 and he was called by the player in the cutoff as well as the player on the button.

The flop was {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Dwek led out with a bet of 2,100. Only the player on the button called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Dwek led out again, this time betting 4,100. He opponent called once more.

On the {6-Diamonds} river, Dwek moved all in for roughly 7,500. His opponent tanked for a long while, but eventually decided to fold.

"Wow," Dwek said after the hand. He waited a few moments then showed down his {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for just ace high. "That was close. I was thinking, 'well, I guess this is it.'"

But, Dwek, who spent most of last year's Main Event clad in a Superman Halloween costume, lives to fight another day.

The mobile phones came out on table 531 when a set over set took place and Jon Gottlieb was all but one card away from being eliminated. He got it in with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} against {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} on the {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} turn and spiked the magical {7-Spades} on the river, causing gasps from everyone on the table.

Once all was done and dusted, Gottlieb doubled for 63,700. "I thought I had him set up so nicely with my set," Gottlieb added in table chat while his stack was counted.
