Day 1 of Event #10: $1,500 Dealers Choice has concluded after 10 one-hour levels of exciting mixed game action. In its fifth year on the schedule, this tournament has become one for some of the biggest names to try their hand in a spread of 20 total games and today was no exception with a record-setting field of 470 entrants.

Danny Noam was a player to watch throughout the entire day, having been seen with the chip lead from an early point in the tournament. By the second break, he already had around 70,000 in his stack and built it up to 81,100 before it was time to bag for the night.

Other players to bag large stacks included Al Barbieri (65,800), Ryan Leng (62,800), Frankie O’Dell (51,500), Chris Ferguson (46,600), and Greg Mueller (45,300).

There were many more notable players to advance to Day 2, such as Dzmitry Urbanovich (33,700), Benny Glaser (27,200), David Benyamine (23,700), Barry Greenstein (21,600), and Mike Matusow (21,400). Many other players including Greg Raymer, Shaun Deeb, James Obst, and Brandon Shack-Harris did not advance.

Day 2 will resume Tuesday at 2 p.m. local time with another 10 levels scheduled, each for one hour. Seventy-one players will make it in the money, with a min-cash of $2,250 guaranteed. The winner of the tournament will receive a WSOP gold bracelet and the first place prize of $144,957.

When play resumes tomorrow, limit flop and draw games will return to levels of 500/1,000. Stud games will have a 200 ante, 300 bring-in, and 1,000 completion. No Limit and Pot Limit games will be played at 300/500 with a 500 big blind ante, with draw games having an 800 big blind ante. There will be 15-minute breaks after every two levels and a one-hour dinner break after Level 16. Come back for all the action as the PokerNews team will be bringing updates from the floor every step of the way.

Pot Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

There was 1,700 in the pot pre-draw in a heads-up pot between Quinn Do in the small blind and James Obst on the button. Do drew two and Obst three. Do check-called a bet of 1,300 by Obst and second draws went two and one. After the second draw, Do checked and Obst looked down to his chip stack before announcing a pot-sized bet of 4,300. Do surveyed the situation and pushed forward more than enough chips in the pot to put Obst all-in for his last 3,100. The final draw went one and pat, and Obst turned over his hand. Do followed suit with the four cards he held from the final draw.

James Obst: {9-}{8-}{5-}{3-}{2-}
Quinn Do: {7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}

Do was in need of a three, four, eight, or nine and Obst asked him to show him the card quickly. He raised the card up to Obst before turning it over to see it himself. Much to his joy, it was an {8-} and Obst was sent home for the evening as Do collected the pot.

No Limit 5-Card Draw

Frankie O'Dell raised to 700 from the cutoff and was called by the player on the button. O'Dell drew two cards and his opponent drew three. Both players checked post-draw.

O'Dell tabled {a-}{a-}{q-}{8-}{2-} and his pair of aces was good as his opponent mucked his hand.

On the very next hand, a player raised from under the gun to 600 and O'Dell called from the hijack. The players in the cutoff and big blind called as well and the four players drew one, one, three, three. After the draw, the big blind checked and the player under the gun bet 1,500.

O'Dell was the only caller and tabled {a-}{a-}{j-}{j-}{6-} to win the pot with aces up.

The tournament clock now reads 403 entrants and looks to surpass last year's total of 406 very soon with two one-hour levels of play still left in the registration period. The largest field size for this tournament was in its inaugural year, 2014, when it got 409 runners, and it looks as if this year could break that mark as well.

Pot Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Shaun Deeb raised from the hijack to 250 and was called by John Monnette in the cutoff and Greg Raymer in the small blind. Raymer drew two and Deeb and Monnette drew three. Action checked to Monnette, who bet 700 and received two calls.

Second draws went one, two, one and action again checked to Monnette, who put out a bet of 1,500. Raymer made the call and Deeb folded, taking the two heads up to the final draw. Raymer took one and Monnette stood pat behind him.

On the end, Raymer checked and Monnette fired again, this time for 2,600. Raymer thought for a while and flung in enough chips for a call. Monnette tabled {8-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and Raymer told him that he had a nice hand as he sent his cards to the muck.
