Cofano Sends Vayo Packing

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Gordon Vayo
Gordon Vayo

Gordon "veilleux" Vayo raised to 4,000 from the cutoff only to have Sean "centralsulci" Cofano three-bet to 6,000 from the button. Both blinds folded and Vayo called off the 730 he had behind.

Gordon "veilleux" Vayo: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Sean "centralsulci" Cofano: {10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Neither player had a lo option, so after the board ran out {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs} it was Cofano winning the pot with his aces.

WSOP Legend: 3-Time Poker Players Championship Winner Michael Mizrachi

Level 15 : 1,250/2,500, 0 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

The World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), which was created in 2006, is considered the tournament where the best of the best take on one another and duke it out in a variety of poker games, a reflection of all-around poker skill. Imagine playing the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu five days in a row in a short-handed mixed format.

Needless to say, the hefty price tag coupled with a small, elite field created a legacy for the PPC where champions are considered among the greatest overall poker players. A quick glance at its 14-year history shows nothing but greatness among champions, from John Hennigan to Mike Gorodinsky, and with the late David "Chip" Reese as perhaps the event's most fitting inaugural winner back in 2006.

Winning once is the poker professional's dream. Winning two? You're in a league of your own. But winning the toughest event with poker's best three times? Only one man achieved that improbable feat on this day back in 2018, after winning his first two titles in 2010 and 2012: Michael Mizrachi.

Veliz Rivers Set of Ducks to Eliminate Deeb

Level 15 : 1,250/2,500, 0 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun "ddtgg" Deeb raised all in for 4,016 from the button and Israel "Izzyboii_1" Veliz came over the top for 5,012 from the small blind.

Action was on "DaRiverbeast" who called from the big blind having both players covered and all three tabled their hands.

"DaRiverbeast": {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Shaun "ddtgg" Deeb: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Israel "Izzyboii_1" Veliz: {k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Veliz held the best hand until the {4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop appeared.

The {3-Clubs} turn put Deeb in the lead with two-pair while "DaRiverbeast" already secured the lo.

Deeb was looking good to grab the hi until the {2-Hearts} dropped on the river giving Veliz a set of deuces to win the hi pot and eliminate Deeb from the tournament.

Don't Miss the New Feature "WSOP History: An Oral History of ChipTic"

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
ChipTic
ChipTic

At the 2012 World Series of Poker, a shiny new product received its public unveiling. Players and fans the world over were introduced to a program with revolutionary potential. It could track the chip ebbs and flows of every player in a tournament while also serving as the back end operating system to run said tournament. It promised the ability to change the way poker tournaments were followed, with players and fans interacting at the stroke of a few keys.

That product was ChipTic. And it proved to be a colossal failure.

This is the two-part oral history of ChipTic, from those who experienced it first-hand and witnessed that failure — three former employees, two members of WSOP staff, and two poker media members who watched it implode.

Kerstetter Dusted by Yu

Jamie Kerstetter
Jamie Kerstetter

In the final hand of the last level, Jamie "DanBilzerian" Kerstetter limped in from middle position and "MyNary" raised to 5,000 from the cutoff.

"Chippingggup" three-bet to 7,500 from the small blind, Ben "WhyIsGamora" Yu called from the big blind, as did Kerstetter and "MyNary" four-bet to 10,000 which was called by all three opponent's.

Once the {q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop appeared, a series of raises saw Kerstetter get her 9,699 stack in the middle and was called by "MyNary" and Yu.

The turn brought the {4-Spades} and Yu led out for 5,000 which was called by "MyNary". The {7-Hearts} river was checked and all three players tabled their hands.

"MyNary": {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Ben "WhyIsGamora" Yu: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Jamie "DanBilzerian" Kerstetter: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Yu flopped top two-pair, faded the turn and river to win the pot and eliminated Kerstetter.
