Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

On a board reading {3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and 115,000 in the middle, Chance Kornuth checked from middle position to Adrian Mateos on the button.

Mateos proceeded to put out an overbet of 450,000, to the seeming chagrin of Kornuth. After about 30 seconds, Kornuth, with a slight sigh, tossed his hand into the muck.

Negreanu Takes From Brewer

Level 2 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Chris Brewer has been off to a hot start to the day, adding a couple hundred thousand to his stack, but a recent pot with Daniel Negreanu cut into it a bit.

With approximately 60,000 in the pot on a board of {q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Brewer checked from the big blind to Negreanu who put out a roughly pot-sized bet. Brewer called.

On the {8-Diamonds} river, Brewer checked again and this time faced a 125,000-chip bet from Negreanu. Brewer quickly folded, awarding the pot to Negreanu.

Aldemir Makes Full House

Level 2 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

Jeremy Ausmus made it 8,000 to go in the cutoff, and Koray Aldemir called from middle position.

With a flop of {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, Aldemir was first to act and checked his option. Ausmus led out for 8,000, and Aldemir thought for a moment before re-raising to 24,000. Ausmus called.

The {7-Clubs} hit the board, and both players checked to see the river.

When the {k-Spades} found the felt, Aldemir raised to 60,000. Elias threw in a single green chip for the call, and Aldemir turned over {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a full house. Elias mucked his hand without showing and Aldemir added to his stack.

Smith Shows Rheem a Bluff

Level 2 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

After Chino Rheem called Dan Smith's cutoff four-bet on the button, the duo saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

Smith continued for 60,000, which Rheem called.

The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and after Smith used a time bank, he bet another 175,000.

"I was just gonna let you stack off", said Rheem before he tossed {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} into the muck face up.

Smith flashed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and said, "nothing", then dragged the sizable pot.

Brewer Rivers Trips

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Sam Soverel opened in early position and action folded around to Chris Brewer in the big blind, who called.

Brewer check-called a bet of 5,000 on the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop.

On the {4-Diamonds} turn, Brewer led into the preflop raiser with a bet of 4,000, which Soverel called.

The {6-Clubs} river paired the board but that did not slow down Brewer, who fired off a hefty 25,000 bet. Soverel did not pause long before calling and Brewer wasted no time in showing {6-Clubs}{8-} for rivered trips, good enough to take down a sizable pot.

Hellmuth Tweets in Sick

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

After previously announcing that he would be playing the $100,000 High Roller Bounty event, Phil Hellmuth sent a tweet in the last hour stating that he wouldn't be able to play.

"I'm skipping @WSOP Event #2 today. I have 'travelers diarrhea' from weekend in Mexico." Hellmuth tweeted.

"I'm tired, my stomach hurts, and I’m going easy on eating food."

We wish the all-time leading bracelet winner well in his recovery before beginning his quest for bracelet number 17.

Aces For Seidel

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action was already underway between Dan Smith and Erik Seidel, with 120,000 in the middle on a board of {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Seidel raised 37,000 from the small blind, and Smith put in the chips for a call.

Both players checked the turn of {k-Hearts}, and would continue to check on the river {3-Hearts}.

Seidel turned over {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and Smith tossed his hand away without showing.

Peters Clashes with Mateos

Level 3 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Daniel Negreanu opened to 10,000 from under the gun, David Peters called in middle position, and Adrian Mateos called from the big blind.

Mateos opted to lead into both players on a flop of {3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, betting enough to force Negreanu out of the hand but not Peters, who called.

The {2-Hearts} hit the turn and Mateos, unperturbed, double-barreled for 34,000. Peters once again called.

On the {a-Hearts} river, Mateos slowed down and checked. Peters bet 42,000 and Mateos folded after 90 seconds.
