Ace-High Good Enough for Demirchyan

Level 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

With a pot of roughly 3,500 in the middle and the flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Arutyun Demirchyan bet 2,000 from the button after being checked to by the small blind. His opponent called the bet.

The turn came {k-Hearts} and again the small blind elected to check. Demirchyan decided on a sizing of 6,000 this time and again was called.

Both players checked on the {3-Diamonds} river and Demirchyan quickly turned over {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} having only ace-high. Turns out that was good enough to scoop this pot when his opponent mucked.

Pike's Kicker Plays

Level 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

Gordon Pike raised to 2,100 over a middle position limp and a small blind call. The middle position player flatted and the small blind got out of the way.

On a flop of {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} Pike checked and his opponent bet 3,200 chips. He quickly called and they were off to the turn.

A {3-Clubs} fell and Pike moved his last 9,000 chips in the middle and was called.

Pike proudly turned over his {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, his queen kicker playing over the {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} of his opponent.

Nguyen Scores a KO with Aces

Level 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

Kyle Weurding limped under the gun and Turbo Nguyen raised to 3,000 from middle position. A player to Nguyen's left called as did Weurding and it was three-ways to a {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop.

Weurding checked and Nguyen bet 7,000. Only the opponent on his left called.

On the turn {q-Spades}, Nguyen check-called an all in from his opponent for about 30,000.

All-In Player: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Turbo Nguyen: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Nguyen was ahead but needed to dodge some outs and he did just that as the {7-Clubs} fell on the river and sent him the pot.

Turned Flush for Ghiasvand Busts Opponent

Level 5 : 400/800, 800 ante

The flop read {5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} with 20,000 in the middle. Heads-up action was on the big blind, who bet 4,000. Mehrdad Ghiasvand called from the button.

The turn came {4-Diamonds}. The big blind continued for 7,000. Ghiasvand called.

The board paired as the {5-Clubs} came on the river. The big blind moved all in for just over 30,000. Ghiasvand snap-called, tabling the nut flush with {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. His opponent showed {a-}{k-} before collecting his things and leaving the table.

Gray Sailing High With His Boat

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With 40,000 chips in the middle on a {q-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board, Craig Gray moved all in for 20,000 more and his opponent went into the tank. He eventually called and the cards were on their backs.

Craig Gray: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The river {q-Clubs} did give his opponent three of a kind but he was still busted, no match for the full house of Gray.

Full Double up For Conklin

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The PokerNews team was called over to a table to report on a hand after the fact. According to his tablemates, Sean Conklin was all in and at risk for just under stacking stack of 48,800. After much preflop action the cards were tabled.

Sean Conklin: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The flop and turn of {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts} were safe for the aces but when the {k-Diamonds} peeled off on the river it was a bad beat for Conklin's opponent and scored him the full double up.

Sad River For Diana Kalietina

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In the Event Center, Diana Kalietina was again unlucky, like yesterday during Day 1a, as she's just been eliminated.

We caught up with action on the turn, with three players in the hand. After a check from the big blind on a board of {j-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades}, Kalietina bet 17,000 from middle position, and Steve Zhang on the button was the only one to call.

A river {k-Clubs} completed the board and Kalietina shoved for her last 26,000. Zhang snap-called and quickly showed his hand, {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a magic pair on the river.

Kalietina held {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was invited to leave the room.
