Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #17: $800 No-Limit Hold'em DeepStack here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This two-day event gets underway at 10 a.m. local time with late registration open for 12 levels. There will be 20-minute breaks every four levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 16.

The starting stack is 40,000 chips with the plan for Day 1 to play 22 30-minute levels. For the surviving players, Day 2 resumes at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Last year's event saw a field of 4,747 entries generate a prize pool of $3,341,888. The winner was Renji Mao, who defeated Matthew Elsby heads-up to win $402,588 and his first WSOP bracelet.

“I did a lot of homework last night and I think it’s great to have a break, luckily,” Mao told PokerNews moments after his victory. “I changed my strategy completely today to be on a more aggressive end."
