WSOP Hands of the Week: Schulman Owns Kabrhel & A New Cult-Hero

Level 30 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Nicholas Schulman

The first week of the 2025 World Series of Poker came out swinging with big bluffs, brutal beats, and more than a few moments that had the entire poker world talking.

Whether it was Nick Schulman dropping the coldest line of the summer, Michael "Texas Mike" Moncek shoving blind into four premium hands, or Christopher Zollo turning a meme-worthy alias into a legit bracelet run, the first seven days of poker's biggest festival did not disappoint.

River Boat Pays Off

Level 30 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 150,000 ante
Derek Gregory
Derek Gregory

We pick up the action with Geoffrey Coatar making a call on the turn with a request of the dealer.

"Don't do me dirty," he said.

With a board reading: QQA the 10 landed on the river. Derek Gregory, playing from the small blind, bet 950,000. Coatar didn't hesitate to go all in.

Gregory sat for nearly five minutes trying to decide what to do. Were he to fold, he would have some 1,700,000 chips. If he called and lost, his tournament run would be over.

Finally, an opponent called for the clock. With about 15 seconds left for his hand to be declared dead, Gregory made the call.

Coatar showed Q10 for the full house and massive takedown that put him atop the leaderboard.

Gregory turned over Q3 showing why the decision was such a difficult one to make.

Leblond and Li Hit the Rail

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Benjamin Leblond

Benjamin Leblond made it 1,075,000 from middle position and Andrew Robinson three-bet to 1,800,000 from the hijack. When it got back to Leblond, he called off the remaining 500,000 he had behind.

Benjamin Leblond: K10 All in
Andrew Robinson: AQ

Leblond was looking to connect with the board, but the 7A7 flop left him drawing slim. A 6 on the turn did give him a flush draw, but the 9 river was of no use, and he was sent to the rail.

On the adjacent table, Jun Li just lost his stack to Duncan Horst, who now has around 9,000,000 to work with.

Lee Finds Double

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Once action folded to Stephen Lee in the small blind, he went all-in for 700,000. Marc Tusch called from the big blind.

Stephen Lee: 44 All in
Marc Tusch: A2

The runout of 8532K was not enough to send Lee home, and he doubled up to 1,600,000 chips.
