Tanguay Takes it Down
The action started out with Christopher Chatman calling the blind of 2,000 under the gun and David Tanguay calling behind from late position. James Leonard shoved all in for 29,500 from the big blind. After a count Chatman made the call as did Tanguay and we had three players heading to the flop with one at risk of his tournament life.
The dealer spread a flop of 7♦5♦5♣ and Chatman checked as did Tanguay.
A turn card came K♦ and both players checked behind.
On a river of J♣, Chapman checked again and Tanguay bet 15,000. Chapman called and there was a showdown.
James Leonard: A♥8♥
Christopher Chatman: J♠10♠
David Tanguay: K♥Q♥
In this case the best hand before the flop didn't win, as Tanguay's king was good to rake in the pot adding to his growing chip stack.
