Moncek Quietly Making Noise

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Michael Moncek
Michael Moncek

With his ever-present burnt orange University of Texas "Block T" logo cap, Michael Moncek, better known to most as Texas Mike, has quietly moved into the top 20 in chip counts.

Moncek, who has won two bracelets said his WSOP is going "just OK" thus far. Just OK for Moncek would be outstanding for many.

He has ninth-place finishes in the $25,000 Mixed PLO/NLH High Roller and the $5,000 Eight Handed No-Limit Hold'em events, plus an 11th place in the $10,000 Mystery Bounty.

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The action started before the flop when Nick Guagenti raised to 145,000 from the under the gun and the action folded to Yishu Yang made the call from the button and we went to a flop.

The flop came 9J5 and Guagenti bet 80,000 and Yang called.

The 9 peeled off on the turn and Guagenti checked to Yang who moved all in for 225,000. Gaugenti went into the tank, shaking his head.

"You have king-queen?" asked Guagenti. After about two minutes Guagenti folded and Yang flipped over KQ.
