Day 2 Started
Welcome to Day 2 of Event #18: $565 Pot Limit Omaha at the 2017 World Series of Poker. Friday's two Day 1 flights saw a combined total of 3,332 entries, a number which surpassed last year's by 707 and set a new world record for the largest field live PLO tournament ever held. But today, just 107 players will return at 2 p.m. local time to continue their quest for WSOP gold and the top prize of $224,334. Play on Day 2 will consist of 10 60-minute levels, unlike Day 1, which had 18 30-minute levels.
At the head of the pack is runaway chip leader Cody Slaubaugh, who will take a massive stack of 726,000 chips out of the bag when play resumes. Slaubaugh was the only player to bag a stack larger than 500,000, and just two players will start Day 2 with more than 400,000. Adam Owen and Hassan Tahsildar, have 410,000 and 425,000, respectively.
Although many well-known players, including defending champion Ryan Laplante, didn't survive to see action on Day 2, several did, including Rep Porter (337,000), Ankush Mandavia (299,000), Jason Mercier (272,000), JC Tran (147,000), Erick Lindgren (99,000), Chris Ferguson (96,000), Lee Watkinson (46,000), and Joey Ingram (40,000).
