Cantu Doubles Through Owen and Fireworks Ignite

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 300 ante
Adam Owen
Adam Owen

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

From under the gun, Brandon Cantu opened with a raise to 4,100. Action folded to Adam Owen in the cutoff and he reraised, making it 13,500.

Cantu thought for a really long time and with shaky hands he pushed out two more stacks of T1,000 chips, putting in a reraise to 44,100.

Owen immediately jumped up from his chair and took his sunglasses off. He asked for a count of what Cantu had remaining, but the dealer could not give it to him. Cantu had some uneven stacks, so Calvin Anderson who was at the table gave an eyeballed guess. Cantu then cut out his stacks evenly so Owen could get a proper count.

"All in," Owen announced.

Cantu then dropped into the tank. He only had roughly 18,000 behind and was thinking through his decision.

"Why are you tanking so long?" Owen asked. "If you were snowing just fold."

Cantu then pushed forward a call and was thinking about whether or not to draw.

"It's on you," Owen said. He tanked for about a minute, then stood pat. Owen then went into the tank. He looked at his stack several times, then at Cantu's.

"Alright, you tricked me," Owen said after about two minutes. He stood pat as well.

Cantu turned up {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Owen went to muck but, since it was an all in and call, he was forced to turn up his {9-}{8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}. Cantu was awarded the big double-up and Owen was left with just 18,175.

"Tanks is pretty unecessary there," Owen said to Cantu after the hand.

"Look, I don't want to teach players how to play the game," Cantu said. "Especially in ones I know much better than you."

"Is that right?" Owen asked.

The two then got into a heated verbal spat which left the rest of the table at a loss for words.

Wong Gets Lucky to Eliminate Craig Hartman; Players Now Hand-For-Hand

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 400 ante
Jerry Wong
Jerry Wong

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

From the button, Craig Hartman raised to 4,000. Next to act was Jerry Wong and he raised all in with a covering stack. Action folded back to Hartman and he dropped into the tank. He thought for a while before the clock was called on him. About 10 seconds into his clock, he called.

Wong drew three and Hartman drew one. Hartman then turned up {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} while Wong just showed {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

Wong peel his cards one at a time and showed {10-Clubs}, then {A-Clubs}, then {A-Spades}, making him a better two pairs.

Hartman flipped up his {3-Clubs} but it was no good and he was eliminated from the tournament, bringing players to hand-for-hand play.

John Bunch Eliminated; Bubble Bursts

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 400 ante

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

The bubble lasted two hands. On the second hand, and with only 50 behind, John Bunch called Tuan Le's raise to 3,600. Ismael Bojang also called in the big blind.

Bojang drew three, Le one, and Bunch four.

Bojang checked and Le bet 7,000.

"I think you're bluffing," said Bojang. "But I don't think I can call." He folded.

After all hands were complete, Le showed {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

Bunch turned over his cards one by one. The {8-Hearts}. Then the {q-Clubs} ("That's the one I knew," said Bunch). Then the {3-Clubs}. Then the {8-Spades}, meaning that Bunch had two outs to avoid elimination. His final card was the {3-Diamonds}, giving him two pairs, which was no good against Le's trips and Bunch was eliminated.

Tuan Le
Tuan Le

Pot-Limit Omaha

From under the gun, Iraj Parvizi opened with a raise to 4,200. Tuan Le called from the big blind.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Le checked to Parvizi who put out a bet of 7,000. Le called.

The turn was the {K-Clubs} and Le checked a second time to Parvizi. Parvizi fired 14,000 and Le called again. Both players checked the {4-Clubs} river. Parvizi showed {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} but it was no good as Le had made a flush with {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds} on the river.

In the next hand, Ismael Bojang opened with a raise to 3,500 from the cutoff. Le called from the small blind but Parvizi put in a three bet from the big blind to 8,000.

"Last hand put me on tilt," Parvizi said, smiling. Both Bojang and Le called and the three took a flop of {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}. All three checked and the {8-Spades} came on the turn. Le led out with a bet of 14,000 and both players folded. He flashed {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and took down the pot, pushing him above 150,000 chips.

Mercier Doubles Through Cantu

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 400 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Jason Mercier opened from the cutoff to 2,800. Brandon Cantu called from the button and the two went heads up into the first draw where both players took two.

Mercier then checked over to Cantu. Cantu announced pot, making it 8,600. Mercier repotted, making it 34,400. Cantu moved all in and Mercier called.

Both players then took one on the second draw.

"I'm ahead," Cantu said.

Both players then proceeded to take one more on the last draw.

Cantu revealed {7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} while Mercier was holding {7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}.

Mercier sweat his card. "Oooo," he said. "I think I got a four." Then he revealed that it was, in fact, a {4-}.

"So I need a fix or a six?" Cantu asked.

"I got rid of a five and a six," Mercier said.

Cantu turned up his last card, revealing a {Q-}, and that would lock up the double-up for Mercier.
