Knoppers Takes One

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Barry Shulman raised to 2,400 from under the gun, Luigi Knoppers was next to act and called, and the button also called.

The three players saw a flop of {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades} and they all checked.

The turn brought the {6-Clubs} and Knoppers bet 5,500. Shulman folded and the button called.

The river was the {K-Spades} and Knoppers checked. The button checked behind, Knoppers instantly tabled {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for sixes full of kings, and the button mucked.

Zisimopoulos Under Pressure

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

"I lost a big one," Georgios Zisimopoulos admitted. Soon after, he was spotted all in from the small blind and took the big blind and antes.

Two hands later, Zisimopoulos raised to 2,700 from the cutoff and the button three-bet to 8,500. The small blind called and Zisimopoulos elected to fold. After a flop of {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, the small blind checked and the button won the pot with a bet of 10,000.

As for Zisimopoulos, the Greek has dropped to less than half the starting stack and will have to spin it up soon to avoid elimination.

Kings for van Zadelhoff

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

On a flop of {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades} with roughly 40,000 in the middle, the action was checked from out of the blinds by Steven van Zadelhoff.

Tai Nguyen checked in middle position, as did the hijack.

The turn landed the {2-Diamonds} and, after a van Zadelhoff check, Nguyen bet 21,000. The hijack folded, but van Zadelhoff called as the river landed the {9-Diamonds}.

Both players checked, and van Zadelhoff tabled his {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Nguyen mucked.

Brian Okin Close to 400,000

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Brian Okin might be the biggest stack in Day 2b. If not, he's near the top. His neighbor John Gordon, a.k.a. Muscles, is on the opposite end of the spectrum — at least for now.

He just doubled up to 12,000 with pocket fours against pocket threes. He was down to less than 6,000.

Teen Mom Star Matt Baier Takes One Down

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The action folded to one of the stars of MTV's Teen Mom in Matt Baier on the button, and he raised to 2,800.

The big blind called and checked a {10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop as Baier continued for 7,000.

The big blind called, and after he checked the {6-Spades} on the turn, Baier pushed all in for roughly 63,000.

Being covered by Baier, the big blind opted to muck, and Baier climbed to 84,000 in chips.

Mickey Craft the First to 500,000

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Mickey Craft
Mickey Craft

After winning a huge pot earlier with aces in a three-way all in, Mickey Craft has become the chip leader of the tournament after a strong last level and a stronger start to this level, becoming the first player to breach 500,000 chips.

In a recent hand, Craft opened with a raise to 3,600 from early position. He was called by a player in the cutoff as well as the small blind and the three took to a flop.

The board came {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{J-Spades} and action checked to the cutoff who bet 7,000. Both the small blind and Craft called. On the {Q-Spades} turn, all three players checked.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and the small blind checked to Craft. Craft bet 17,200. The cutoff folded quickly. The small blind tanked for about a minute and a half before calling Craft's bet. Craft showed {3-Spades}{5-Spades} for a turned flush and that was enough to earn him the big pot and to push him over 500,000 chips.

Talia Silberstein Gets Paid With Aces

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With about 15,000 in the pot already on a board reading {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, the player in the hijack checked. Talia Silberstein was on the button and moved all in for her last 23,100. Her opponent tanked for about a minute and eventually called.

Silberstein tabled {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, at risk against {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and her opponent picked up more outs with an open-ended straight draw.

The river was the biggest brick of all — the {2-Clubs}. Silberstein let out a sigh of relief and rapped the table in excitement as the dealer shipped her the pot.
