Treglia Falls to Quads

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

With the board reading {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades}, Peter Treglia got his remaining 165,000 chips in the middle against Eugene Kotlyarevskiy.

Treglia tabled {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} which was out in front of Kotlyarevskiy's {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. However, the dealer burned and turned the {2-Spades} on the river giving Kotlyarevskiy quad deuces. That sent Treglia into a frenzy as his opponent just hit a one-outer to eliminate him from the Main Event.

Lafleur Calls it Off Thin

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

With the board having come {k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, we found Sammy Lafleur in the hijack considering the all-in shove of Stephen Wan. Wan had jammed in 275,000 or so, which covered Lafleur's 225,000. The pot looked to contain around 300,000 already. After thinking for a couple of minutes, Lafleur dropped in a single chip to call.

"Good call," Wan said, showing {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a missed straight draw.

Lafleur showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for tens up, and several players complimented him on the call.

Allan Le Slips

Allan Le earlier this summer
Allan Le earlier this summer

Action folded around to bracelet winner Allan Le on the button and he raised to 14,000. After a few moments of thought, the big blind three-bet to 40,000. Le called.

The flop fell {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} and the big blind bet 30,000. Le called.

The turn brought the {K-Hearts} and the big blind checked. Le bet 54,000, sending his opponent into the tank briefly. He counted out his remaining chips, which looked like they totaled approximately 152,000, and ultimately called.

The river was the {8-Hearts} and both players checked. The big blind tabled {10-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a pair of tens with no kicker and Le mucked.

John MacNaughton and Carolyn Tulloch Celebrate Love and Poker

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Canada's John MacNaughton and Carolyn Tulloch already have much to celebrate during this time of year, but 2017 is turning out to be much more special for the poker couple.

MacNaughton and Tulloch are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary on July 25th, 2017. The couple hails from Innisfail, Alberta in Western Canada and are regulars on the tournament poker scene. In addition to making their rounds in Canada, the duo has had success in Las Vegas, the Bahamas, and Australia.

Both of these players have now locked up their first Main Event cash, sitting on healthy stacks here on Day 4. Tulloch comes into the day with 500,000 and MacNaughton sits on 343,000, with both players having a shot at big success now that the pressure of the money bubble is off their back.

The couple has had success together at the 2010 Aussie Millions Poker Championship in the A$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Team Event after coming in second place for A$21,800/$20,121 USD. They have also had their own deep runs, with MacNaughton finishing as runner-up in January 2016 in the $1,100 Deep Stack Extravaganza in Las Vegas or $28,715. Tulloch came close to a bracelet in June 2012 in Event #29: $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Seniors Championship, pocketing $37,672 for her tenth-place finish.

There is plenty of play to go, and PokerNews will be sure to check up on the Canadian poker couple as the day progresses.

Under 1,000 Players Left in the Main Event

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

"Limp in is ok," said Max Pescatori, as Romain Arki raised to 12,000 from the button. Pescatori called in the small blind, as did Dana Kellstrom in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Spades} and Pescatori bet 12,000. Kellstrom folded and Arki called. The turn was the {2-Spades} and both players checked.

"Wow, would you look at that," remarked tablemate Gavin Smith, as the tournament clock updated the number of players to 999, "When this thing started did you really believe you would make it to the final 1,000 players?"

"No," said a tablemate, "I expected to bubble!"

The whole table laughed.

"Congratu-f***ing-lations everybody," said Smith.

Meanwhile, Pescatori had bet around 25,000 on the river {6-Diamonds} and Arki called. Pescatori mucked and Arki showed {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} to win with a pair of aces.

Sanders Eliminated

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Sanders was standing up with the dealer calling for a payout when we got to his table. As he told it, he ran ace-king into an opponent's pocket kings for half of his stack and then lost the rest shoving 10 big blinds over a Chino Rheem open with {a-}{10-}. Rheem called with {k-}{4-} and got there.

Adam Bonham Shoves on Timothy Adams

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There was some previous action, but Timothy Adams was on the button and he raised to 97,000 preflop. Adam Bonham called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} and both players checked. They both checked again when the {j-Diamonds} came on the turn and Bonham checked a third time on the river when the {2-Hearts} paired the board on the river.

Adams bet 175,000 and Bonham went all in. He had Adams covered. Adams had a little more than 400,000 behind and tanked for more than a minute before folding.

Set-Over-Set Eliminates Charlie Godwin

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Charlie Godwin
Charlie Godwin

Charlie Godwin was headed to the payout desk and explained how she was eliminated in a set-over-set situation.

Godwin defended her big blind and managed to get her stack in the middle on a board reading {6-}{3-}{2-}. Godwin held a couple of deuces for bottom set, and two other players were all in also. Her opponents held pocket threes for a bigger set, and pocket fives for a straight draw and the potential to hit a bigger set.

We aren't sure about the run out, but Godwin lost the hand and is collecting her payout for a min-cash. On the positive side, Godwin is playing in her first Main Event and is clearly thrilled just to be here.
