Welcome to the WSOPC Sydney Main Event Final Table

The Final Nine Players are Set
The Final Nine Players are Set

The final nine players remaining in the WSOP International Circuit $2,200 Main Event have returned to action at The Star in Sydney to play to a winner.

Edwin Chiu has the chip lead with 6,335,000 chips, just over one big blind more than Steven Zhou. Chiu will be a force to be reckoned with after eliminating Moustafa Haidar in the final hand on Day 3, after rivering a flush against a set, to give himself a great shot at taking home the WSOP Circuit ring and $410,264 top prize.

Chiu and Zhou won't have everything their own way, however, with all nine remaining players desperate to take down the title and improve on the $40,689 they'll be guaranteed for being the next man to exit.

Huss Hassan, who sits third in chips, is no stranger to this situation. Hassan has nine titles to his name, one of which came in the 2018 WSOPC Sydney $1,320 6-Max event, where he captured his first circuit ring.

Adrian Attenborough is the most notable player at the table, with a poker resume that boasts career earnings exceeding $1.4 million, putting him 26th on the Australian All-Time Money list. A victory today would see him rocket up to 23rd place, passing Joe Cabret, Manny Stavropoulos and Stewart Scott in the process, and leaving him a small cash away from passing Jarred Graham.

Here's how the players will line up when they return to the felt today.

Adrian Attenborough moved all in for 580,000 from middle position before the action checked around to Edwin Chiu in the big blind.

"I could use the double," said Attenborough, as Chiu was deliberating his decision. "Or help you out," he joked.

"If you're feeling lucky, call," continued Attenborough. "Otherwise don't because I'm lucky," he finished with. Chiu eventually called.

Chiu: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Attenborough: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Chao Duan raised to 200,000 from middle position. Steven Zhou called from the button followed by Duy Vu in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Vu checked. Duan continued for 250,000. Zhou snap-called. Vu then moved all in for 1,915,000. Duan folded.

"Fold!" said Vu to Zhou, who was deliberating over his decision. "You don't have to play this one," he added.

"I can't fold this hand," replied Zhou, who took a minute, before making the call with more behind.

Vu: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Zhou: {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Vu had flopped trip fours and led against Zhou's flush draw.

The board ran out the {8-Clubs} and {9-Clubs}, changing nothing, resulting in Vu doubling up.

Hassan Loses Back-To-Back Hands

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Huss Hassan
Huss Hassan

Huss Hassan raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and was called by Steven Zhou on the button as well as Duy Vu in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Vu checked. Hassan continued for 450,000. Zhou folded. Vu called shortly after.

Both players checked the {k-Spades} on the turn before the {5-Hearts} completed the board. Vu checked. Hassan fired 675,000.

"Aces, Huss?" questioned Vu, before slamming down his chips and making the call.

Hassan flipped over {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for nine-high. Vu tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and the winning hand.

In the following hand, Hassan raised to 225,000 from the hijack. Zhou called from the cutoff. John Zwaine called from the button and Vu called from the small blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Vu checked. Hassan continued for 350,000. Only Zwaine called.

The turn fell the {2-Clubs} and Hassan checked. Zwaine announced 'one million' before sliding out the bet.

Hassan mucked moments later and relinquished the pot.

And then there were six. Huss Hassan moved all-in from the button and took down the blinds and antes, but the second time he tried this from the cutoff Steven Zhou made a quick call.

The rest of the table got out of the way and the two tabled their hole cards.

Huss Hassan: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Steven Zhou: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Hassan was in a great deal of trouble, with Zhou waking up with a premium pocket pair behind him and would need to see something special on the runout to keep his final table hopes alive.

Unfortunately, the poker gods were not in a forgiving mood and the board ran out {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, with Zhou spiking top set to bring Hassan's Main Event to an end.

Hassan headed for the cage to collect the AU$64,765 on offer for seventh place, while Zhou stacked up to

Duy Vu

Edwin Chiu raised to 350,000 from the cutoff. John Zwaine called from the small blind. Duy Vu then re-raised to 1,500,000 from the big blind. Chiu thought for a minute and called. Zwaine got out of the way.

The flop came {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Vu moved all in for 4,050,000. Chiu snap-called with more behind.

Chiu: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Vu: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Vu had made a move with queen-high and run into Chiu's monster pocket pair.

The {9-Clubs} on the turn gave Vu outs to a gut-shot straight.

The {2-Diamonds} on the river wouldn't help and Vu was sent to the rail in 6th place.

Chiu moves to over 15 million, giving him almost half the chips in play, with five remaining.

Five became four midway through the first level back from the dinner break, with Chao Duan moving all-in for 2.3-million from the cutoff and finding a customer in small blind Steven Zhou.

Chao Duan: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Steven Zhou: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Duan was behind and at risk and found no help on the {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} runout to hit the rail in fifth place for AU$107,837.

With just four players remaining the big blind ante has been halved, coming in at 100,000.

The rest of the players began discussing the possibility of an ICM deal following Duan's exit and as a result we have some accurate chip counts for you:
