Kapoor Amongst the Big Stacks

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Akshay Kapoor
Akshay Kapoor

There are 158 players in contention, with one of the biggest stacks belonging to Akshay Kapoor, who is sitting on 216,000 and was kind enough to tell PokerNews how he amassed such a sizable stack.

Kapoor was responsible for showing $5 Challenge champion Shivan Abdine the door back on the 400/800 level after the two clashed in a hand on an ace-king-jack double club flop, which is when Abdine got the last of his chips in with {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Kapoor had {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and hit running aces on to make the boat and bring Abdine's tourney to a close.

The first hand back after the break saw Kapoor rail another opponent in a multi-way pot, spiking top set with aces on a {a-}{q-}{6-} flop vs. two players in the blinds. While the small blind was able to escape on the turn in the hand, the big blind, holding {q-}{6-} two pair was not so fortunate and that pot shot Kapoor to the top of the counts.

Laoyont Shrugs it Off

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Patrick Laoyont
Patrick Laoyont

The player under the gun limped into the pot before Patrick Laoyont raised to 4,600 from middle position. The small blind called as did the original limper.

The flop came {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Spades} and the action checked to Laoyont who continued for 5,500. Both opponents called.

All three players checked the {j-Clubs} on the turn before the {3-Hearts} completed the board.

The small blind fired out 11,000. The player under the gun folded. Laoyont called shortly after.

The small blind then flipped over {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a straight, and took down the pot, after Laoyont mucked.

"I called because you made it 4,600," said the small blind following the hand. "You bet, then I looked down at my cards and s*** myself," he added.

Laoyont didn't seem overly pleased with his opponent's reasonings, before re-inserting his airpods, preparing himself for the next hand.

Kempson Wins From Gilbert, Attenborough Climbing

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Corey Kempson
Corey Kempson

Corey Kempson had made it 3,500 to go from the button, with Jason Gilbert calling from the big blind to take the duo to a flop of {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, which Kempson took down on the flop with a continuation bet when Gilbert checked the action over.

The next hand saw Adrian Attenborough open the action from under-the-gun with a raise to 3,200, picking up a caller in big blind Alan Zheng to take play heads-up to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Spades}, which saw Zheng check-call Attenborough's 1,600 continuation bet.

O the {10-Clubs} turn the action went check, bet 6,300, call, with the {4-Spades} river bringing a third check from Zheng and a bet of 25,000 from Attenborough, which was enough to win the hand. Attenborough has his chips stacked a little haphazardly so it's hard to gauge exactly how much he has, but it looks close to 220,000.

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Con Angelakis in the WSOPC pot limit Omaha
Con Angelakis in the WSOPC pot limit Omaha

Following a cry of 'reporter!' Con Angelakis was discovered all-in from the small blind in a sizable pot against tablemate Collin Tran.

According to the table, all the chips went in on the turn on a board reading {7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Con Angelakis: {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Collin Tran: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Angelakis was the at-risk player with a big draw, but was trailing to Tran's pocket tens, and the {5-Clubs} river was a swing and a miss. Angelakis left the playing area and Tran stacked up to 146,400.

Jason Gilbert
Jason Gilbert

The board showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Jason Gilbert checked from the big blind. Alan Zheng then moved all in for around 27,000 from the big blind. Gilbert snap-called.

Gilbert: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Zheng: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Gilbert had a pair and led Zheng who had a straight draw.

The {6-Clubs} on the river changed nothing and Zheng was sent to the rail.

"Nice hand bud," said Corey Kempson, following the hand.

"You're on fire bro," said another table mate.

With 19,500 in the pot on the turn and the community cards spread {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} Daniel Embleton was in the tank from the big blind, contemplating a bet of 17,000 from button Alba Qi.

After a minute or so, Embleton folded, leaving Qi free to rake in the pot unopposed, and she climbed to 87,000 after the hand, while Embleton dropped to 47,000.

Zhang Straightens Out Harb

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Bobby Zhang
Bobby Zhang

Bobby Zhang has been quietly chipping up and tablemate Robert Harb was kind enough to tell us how Mr. Zhang acquired his chips.

Harb and Zhang had tangled in a hand with the latter the man driving the action and the former the man calling him down. According to Harb, Zhang had raised pre-flop with pocket tens and been called by Mr. Harb, who was holding pocket aces.

Zhang triple-barreled the {a-}{k-}{q-} {j-}{5-} runout to win with a straight and now has over 155,000, while Harb has 125,000.
