Day 2 Started
Out of the 177 entries to try their luck in the World Series of Poker International Circuit $1,650 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed event, just 41 will return for Day 2 action at 2:15 p.m. local time. All are chasing the top prize of AU$74,341 (~$50,440) and WSOP gold circuit ring, and since 18 players will make the money, the bubble is expected to break early in the day.
At the head of the pack is Australia's Kamyar Ekrami, who will take a sizable 288,300-chip stack out of the bag. Not far behind is Tam Truong, a feared live tournament player who is no stranger to the four-card game - finishing fifth in this very event last year. The Australian ended Day 1 with 278,200 chips. Ben Thurlow, who is coming off a runner up finish in this event last year, has accumulated 202,000 chips thus far and will be looking to go one further this time around.
Numerous additional notable names advanced alongside the biggest stacks, including Con Angelakis (160,000), Huss Hassan (150,800), Luke Edwards (149,000), Jan Suchanek (126,900), Ash Gupta (60,700), Gary Benson (42,800), Graeme Putt (24,000) and Jarred Graham (10,900) who will start the day as the shortest stack.
Blinds will be 1,000/2,000 when play resumes. The plan is to play as many levels as needed with a 10-minute break every three levels until a champion is crowned. Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the action as we crown the newest WSOP Circuit champion.
The missing player from Day 1 has been found, turning up right at the close of play as the survivors were bagging up.
The man in question is Tao Chen, who was able to verify his identity and was allowed to take his stack through to Day 2 so will be coming back with 115,000 in chips.
